Life after Mirena?

I had Mirena put in at 6 weeks postpartum.  I was exclusively breastfeeding so I never got a period.  I had my Mirena in for 2 1/2 years without a period.  I recently had it taken out because we are going to try this summer.  My first cycle I charted to see if it would be normal and I had a perfect cycle.  I didn't chart after that and I am now 2 weeks late for what would be my second cycle after Mirena.  I have taken 4 tests, all negative.  Anyone experience irregular periods after Mirena?  I thought it could happen since technically it was 3 years since I had a period but since the first cycle was normal I figured I was in the clear.

  • It can take upto 3 months after stopping a birth control method for your cycle to become "normal" again.  I wouldn't worry about it. I work for Planned Parenthood, and we get this question all the time......takes time for your body to get back into it's own cycle after stopping hormones.
