(1) So... how faux pas is it to bring fish or seafood to work for lunch, specifically when you will be heating it up?
I work in a very small office, only 4 people are in here on a regular basis. I don't bring seafood for lunch ever, unless it's the occasional tuna sandwich. Even at that I feel bad and always make sure my trash goes outside so the office doesn't stink of tuna the next day.
DH & I really like to eat fish but I almost never cook it because whatever I make for dinner DH takes for lunch the next day.
(2) I hate pork. I love bacon, ham, and just about everything else from a pig... I just hate pork. I hate how it looks, smells, consistency, & tastes. I see a lot of pork recipes that sound great - except for the whole pork thing - and I'm wondering: Do you think it's ok to use chicken instead of pork most of the time? I think it is, I'm just never sure if flavors will work the same with chicken.
Re: a couple of food related questions
I'd def swap out the meat you don't like for that which you do- in this case, pork. Just adjust the cooking time accordingly.
As for the fish ?- I know a lot of people who bring curries and such things to work so I don't see how seafood could be any worse. If you are removing the garbage and such I see no reason why you shouldn't.
Of course, you could also bring an air 'neutralizer' like a febreeze spray if you feel it's an issue. And, if your co workers are really put off, I'm sure someone would mention it.
1.) I hate people that bring seafood into work. I even hate people that make tuna at work. Make your tuna at home and don't stink up the kitchen! I'm obviously much more sensitive now because I'm PG, but I get pissed about it. One guy heated up seafood a month ago and I swear the microwave smelled for about a week. This of course makes me mad because I use the microwave to heat up my lunch every day and had to continue to smell it. It also doesn't help that I sit close to the pantry so I have to smell this crap all the time.
2.) Pork and chicken should be interchangable for all recipes.
Yeah I could do that for sure, and I highly doubt anyone would mind really. I was mainly wondering for DH's sake at his workplace.
Yeah... when you can't open any windows it has to suck! You aren't the only one I know who feels the same way.
