So, it's officially time for me to start job hunting again. I have 5 months left on my current contract. And although they said renewal for another year was a sure thing, recent state budget cuts and hiring freezes have put that in jeopardy. 5 months may seem like a long time, but staring unemployment in the face makes it feel like 5 seconds! I really thought this year-long contract would give me the time to find a permanent gig I love, but sadly no luck so far. So keep your fingers crossed for me that some county or state office decides to lift their hiring freeze some time soon! I'm about to get desperate and apply for jobs I probably won't even like. Le sigh.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

Thanks for the job dust, all.
Mofe, I did that until last March and was absolutely miserable. Getting laid off was the best thing that could have happened for my mental health (even though it sucked for my fiscal health).
I think the worst part is that I love my current job, there is just very little prospect of making it permanent any time soon. IF an attorney in our office were to leave, I'd have a chance, but in this economy, no one is budging. And we only have 5 to begin with.

This economy sucks the big one. Tons and tons of job dust!
I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.

Ugh that blows. Especially if you really like your job and I am sure you are doing a great job.
