Crap! Interview attire?!?!
Okay, I haven't been on an interview since I was um...24... and I wore a super cute suit and super cute outfit for my follow up. Well... I have this really great interview Monday and it occurs to me...what the heck do I wear..
I have several issues...i'm not my ideal size so I don't have a lot of clothing options.
The weather is wacky here right now.
And I would most likely not be wearing a suit every day... and don't own a suit that fits so I'd rather not go buy an expensive suit (which while I sort of think I should, I'd rather not).
So...ladies... can dress pants and a nice top, and some hot shoes work?
Re: Crap! Interview attire?!?!
I think it depends on where the job is - if it's at a law firm, I would definitely wear a suit. I can wear jeans to work (and do just about every day), but we would notice if the interviewee was not in a suit.
Speaking from similar experience, Macy's sometimes sells really reasonable suit separates (not in the suit section, but in the "normal" clothes section). I have gotten pants for $25 and a jacket for $35 when I desparately needed something.
And CONGRATS on your interview!!!
My rule of thumb - is always to wear a suit to interviews.
It always passes the right message in my opinion.
But then again, it depends where you are interviewing.
In terms of cost, I found that you can grab a simple jacket & pants even at JC penny, and keep costs low with some minor alternations.
Especially if this is for a one time use.
?
I bought a suit from wal-mart a few years ago.
What I was taught is you dress for the position above yours.
Good Luck!
I definitely agree with this. And if you're worried about alterations, you can always buy a jacket with short or cap sleeves so it's one less thing to change.
Good luck!
Business casual doesn't cut it for an interview. You definitely need to wear a suit.

I was thinking the same thing. I've never worn a suit my entire life and wouldn't even think of wearing one to an interview. I always wear a nice pair of slacks and a blouse or a long skirt and blouse.
