Soo... Friday is round one of surplus procedures

at my school. For those of you not in the business, what that means is a school is allotted teachers each year based on our enrollment numbers. If there is declining enrollment, then the teacher with the lowest seniority gets declared surplus. If there's a place for them somewhere else in the board, then they get to go there. If there's nowhere, then they're let go... and no jobs!

Last year, I was suplused from my high school and placed in the junior high school I teach at now. And, even though I've been teaching for almost two years, I'm still at the bottom of the pile. Anyway, there are three teachers currently on leave... any of whom come back, means I lose my place at this school. There's one current teacher who's planning on taking a year off... so maybe, MAYBE I'll be safe for round one. Of course, I still have to survive round two... where any surplused teacher with more seniority than me can demand my position.

Employment vibes would be deeply appreciated!
