Where to get large pots for flowers?

We're probably going to finish the deck this weekend (Thank God!) and I want to get a couple big flower pots to put on the deck and also by the stairs. I'm hoping to get something maybe 2' deep and 2' at the mouth. I'd like to get a couple good sized plants in them. I'd like something decorated that is not plastic.

Anyone know a good place that doesn't charge and arm and a leg for these?

TIA!

Re: Where to get large pots for flowers?

  • A couple of suggestions: Garden Ridge usually has a ton of options and they are pretty cost effective. Home Goods would be another place I'd try. Good luck!

As a pointer - If you're planing plants that don't need two feet of root space (most annuals) you can put plastice soda and milk jugs in the bottom. That saves you from having to buy so much potting soil. HTH!

  • Before you go totally against plastic, consider that pottery of that size is going to weigh a LOT once it's full of soil and plants, not to mention water. And if they crack at all when you're moving them in, out or about (or bouncing a dog ball off them by accident) - that's money down the tube.

Joanne Fabrics had some, oddly enough. Also - I think ACE Hardware has a $10 off of $50 purchase in their flyer - they have pots.

  • I was at Home Goods last week and they had all of their garden/outdoor items and there was quite a selection.  Several large pots- ceramic & stone. They seemed reasonably priced.
  • I got mine at garden ridge. that had an awesome selection
  • Look at Sam's if you have a membership.  Lowes/Home Depot often have large plastic-ish pots that actually look like glazed pottery.

  • I got some recently at TJ Maxx.  A large one for about 15$ I think.
