I got my "bonus" today after much hype and anticipation. Unfortunately, nearly half of it went to taxes.

I know I'll get it back because of being able to deduct my mortgage interest but still, I was so excited about it. *sigh* Delayed gratification isn't all it is cracked up to be! I'm so grateful for what I did get though and it is going to allow hubby and I to do much more with our kitchen remodel so that is nice. I'm off work early to meet the roofer and electrician!
Re: so bummed ...
I can't wait to start!! I've been fighting the urge to take a sledgehammer to the wall that is coming out for weeks now!
The higher tax deduction is the most annoying thing about bonuses! If it makes you feel better, I was "rewarded" with a $75 gift card for some "above and beyond" work I did proofing bills a few weeks back. After they added that to my taxable income, I lost about $50 (take home) from my paycheck. Not a huge amount, but I'd honestly rather have the $50 in my paycheck than a $75 gift card that, although I will use, I didn't really need.
At least you'll be getting it back!
