Rec your front load washer/dryer

Since I was able to get the appliance rebate reserved for a washer, we're buying both in about a week.

I've been reading up on Consumer Reports for them but still can't decide between a few.  The user reviews on CR are so mixed that they don't really help me any.

A couple specific questions about features:
1. For washer, is the Sanitize option worth it?
2. For dryer, is the interior drying rack worth it?
3. Any features that you absolutely love and can't live without?

Re: Rec your front load washer/dryer

  • We love our LGs.  1.  Yes.  It especially comes in handy with very dirty/soiled work clothes and also gets rid of the musty smells on old towels.  2.  It's great for shoes so they don't go clunking around.  3.  Water Plus and Quick Wash.

My washer and dryer at my house sucks, so I just take everything over to Duck's.  What would take me a day to get all my laundry done takes less than 2 hours with the LGs

  • when we bought our w&d two years ago, I did a bunch of research online -- reading reviews on Consumer Reports, googling reviews, reading reviews on Best Buy/Sears/etc.

in the end I concluded that EVERY w&d had mixed reviews. i finally decided on LG. I felt like LG overall had the best reviews (along with Kenmore but I felt like LG seemed to have more higher ratings but who knows). 2.5 years later, we still love our LG w&d. we didn't get a fancy one... we don't have steam cleaning or a sanitize option (i wish we did but it wasn't in the budget).
