I'm on a very large music-nerd email list that naturally discusses everything under the sun. Most of the posters are liberal, but there are a few conservatives who speak up. I've had very pleasant conversations with a couple of nice, reasonable moderates. They are more conservative than me, but we can have great conversations because none of us are party-line apologists.
But there is this one a-hole who spent multiple posts today defending the way O'Reilly treated Barney Frank only to later reveal that he hadn't watched the clip! Ugh! And he then tried to compare bitching about someone on an email list to verbally abusing them on national TV. And there's this other a-hole who maintains that charging rape victims for rape kits is a totally reasonable policy and doesn't believe that it's rape apologism.
If these people want to vote for McCain because of his tax policy, healthcare policy, foreign policy, or whatever, fine. But why can't they say, "Yes, Bill O'Reilly was a jerk, but I still support John McCain because of [reason]," or, "No, I don't think Wasilla's policy was a good idea, but I still think Palin will make a good VP because of [reason]." Why do they think admitting that someone's behavior was inappropriate or that one policy was wrongheaded will tear down their whole reason for voting a way?! I know liberals can do this too, but these two things just happened and it's really pissing me off. OK, I feel better for venting.
The good news is that the Brewers survived tonight, and we have tickets for Game 4 tomorrow! Woot!

Sadly, I have seen people on the Nest say this. They have compared it to an inconvenience, like having to pay for gas to get to the courthouse. But you were probably in that thread.
It's depressing that people think like this.
I'm still mad at the Tigers for losing to the White Sox.
