teacher job fair

I'm currently working towards a teaching certification that requires you to secure a teaching job. There are a couple of job fairs coming up that I would love to attend, but don't know how they feel about candidates like myself who don't have a certification yet. I understand they would desire someone who has either experience or completed the certification process and passed all the exams first.  Is it worth going? Just thought I would seek out a little feedback/ advice.

TIA!

Re: teacher job fair

  • No clue . . . but hi Krissy!
  • I'm going to the PISD job fair tomorrow and you actually have to have proof of certification to get in.  I think it's like that with a lot of job fairs.  You may want to call and see.

  • Oh, I also forgot to add I haven't even taken the PPR yet.  I have an emergency teaching certificate and am working on my alternative certification.  I think it largely depends on what you want to teach.  I'm a high school math teacher, and we're in high demand everywhere.  However, there are lots of music teachers looking for jobs because they fill up quickly.

  • Well I do have a letter from the Certification Program-  stating that I am approved to teach b/c of my undergrad degree and I did pass the content exam, but do not actually have the certification. Maybe that would work, I don't know. I guess it doesn't hurt to try.

I bet you can call and they'd be fine with it.
