My hair is very thick, mostly straight, and it's cut in a chin-length bob in front and stacked in back. It's pretty easy care. On the days when I have time to blow it dry and/or hit it with a flatiron, it's easy to style it to look nice and polished. On the days when I don't it still doesn't look bad or anything, but I'd like it to look more "intentionally messy" than "Mommy's having a busy day".
I think I'd like to find something that would give it some texture for the days when it just has to dry naturally and find its own way, but I don't know what that product would be. I do have a teeny tiny bit of wave in my hair since my second pregnancy, so maybe something that would amplify that would be good. I'd like to keep my hair from getting crunchy and/or heavy, though. Any recommendations?
I'm allergic to panthenol, xanthan gum, and lanolin, so bonus points if you already happen to know of something that doesn't contain those.
Re: Hair product recs?
I have really curly hair and use AG Re:Coil. Maybe you could give that a try? I believe it's pretty natural/organic. Let me see if I can find an ingredient list.
ETA: It does have panthenol. I'm sorry. Do Aveda products work for you? I know they have a curl balm as well.
I have the opposite hair but have you looked into the sexy hair brand? they have an organics line - I found the volumizing mousse at marshall's of all places, so you might want to check there...if you have the patience.

I just started using some new products a week or so ago and I'm liking them. Pregnancy gave me wave in my hair as well, and these really brought it out. A quick check of ingredients didn't show the ones you want to avoid, but, of course, check it out yourself to be sure I didn't miss anything.
Aveda Light Elements Texturizing Creme
Aveda Confixor Styling Gel
I also love Aveda Be Curly (which the stylist said I could use with both of these, but she didn't put it on my and she had lots of wave going in my hair without it), but it did have panthenol in the ingredient list.
They're expensive as hell, but check out the Pureology product line. I think they have mostly organic ingredients.
Is your hair long enough to get into a teeny ponytail in the back? Mine is in a bob but it's around collarbone length, so long enough to get a small ponytail. When I'm having a less than fashionable day, I tease a little at the crown, brush it all back into a low ponytail, and keep the layered bangs/front back with a cute headband. The teasing at the crown gives it a little style and volume behind the headband so it doesn't look like I just pulled it back haphazardly.
Thanks for the tips! I'll check all these out. Even the ones that contain things to which I'm allergic. I had no idea where to even start -- I'm hair product challenged -- so even if I can't use it, seeing it will probably help point me in the right direction.
CollieJade -- My hair's too short for the little ponytail, but only because the back is stacked. My hair's way shorter in the back than in the front. I'm going to try the headband thing without the ponytail. There's really not enough hair in the back to get unruly anyway, and the front is definitely long enough to hold back like you describe. Thanks!
