OCD much?

I don't normally link other posts on message boards, but this one really struck me from the C&O board.  This lady is clearly OCD.

I'm currently a SAHW and I don't even have the time for the stuff she cleans every day.  And the water she wastes on her sheets, oh my goodness.  I can't get over her list.

Every day I do the dishes and make the beds.  Every few days I vacuum/swiffer the floors.  I dust at the same time.  I wipe down the kitchen whenever I feel like it needs it.  I wash out Mitten's bowl when it gets scummy.  I do the laundry about once a week when the basket gets full.  I'm not even going to tell you about our sheets.

PS:  How do you clean a washer and dryer?  I've never heard of anyone ever doing that.

I change our sheets every Sunday and run the dishwasher when it's full.  I usually only clean the rest of the house when we're having company Embarrassed

That lady is nuts, yo.  Sheet changing DAILY?  And why bother cleaning a washer and dryer?  Wouldn't that be like scrubbing out your dishwasher?  Silly.  There MUST be better use for her time.

  • Where I live daily dusting is almost necessary.  I do it mainly to protect us from developing an allergy and to protect our electronics from the dust. I do wipe down the kitchen counters, etc during/after every meal, but mostly because I was taught to clean the kitchen as you cook so its never a chore to clean the kitchen.

While I don't change/wash the sheets everyday but I do iron them, or rather I iron the embroidered edge of the flat sheet, so it lays nicely, mostly because, they were an expensive wedding gift, and I am borderline OCD about maintaining our nice new things from the wedding.

As for the washer and dryer, again when we lived someplace w/ high winds and a lot of dust I would take a damp sponge and wipe out the dust/sand out of the dryer but only on occassion. At the same time I'd wipe the dust/lint and detergent off of the tops of both machines.

  • We're pretty on top of cleaning here (I say we, since H does a lot of it). We dust once a week, twice during pollen season, swiffer and/or vacuum every day because of our dogs, I clean the kitchen every day as I cook and once a week I take a disinfectant and clean it really well. I will admit that I don't iron. We have a really nice dryer with a steam option so I will use that as often as I can. If stuff in the closet is wrinkled and I want to wear it, then I'll iron as needed.

That woman really is completely nuts - it's like Martha Stewart on crack, goodness. I thought my grandma was bad. I'll call her around 10 AM on Saturdays and she's already been up and washed all of her windows, vacuumed, and is doing laundry lol.
