Can anyone help me???

I have had an issue during sex for the past 3 1/2 years.  I have gone to 3 different gynos and talked to every other doctor I can talk to about it.  I have horrendous pain during sex.  At first it was only if we tried to have sex twice.  Then it became painful during the first time we had sex.  Now it has gotten to the point where he tries to go inside of me or touch me and it burns.  It feels as if there is a chemical burn inside of me.  I am not allergic to latex (first thing I thought).  Is anyone going through this too, and have you found a solution?  The doctors have even been talking to me about having surgery to remove the part of my skin that is burning.  I need another option -- that is ridiculous!  Help!!

  • I know an overgrowth of lactobacillus can cause a mild chemical burn, but I'm sure you have been tested for that.  Yes?
  • Try to find a gyno that specifically deals with pain. I had a similar issue and I also highly recommend sex therapy.
  • I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think you can be allergic to semen..is the pain continuous or just when he first enters you?? If you are not well lubricated that could cause a bad burning feeling also....still sucks though :( hope it works out for you!!

yup! This was on Private Practice last week actually, and that was the woman's symptom--a severe burning pain. But I think it would happen after ejaculation only, not during penetration, etc.

  • On Private Practice the allergy was actually to seminal fluid, not the semen itself.  Possibly the pre-ejaculate contains the same seminal fluid?  I'm not sure.

  • I would keep going to different doctors until one can help you.  You have to advocate your own health.  Pain during sex doesn't have to be tolerated.

  • this is a bit late - but if you get this.. there is a condition some women have called Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. The tissues deep inside become badly inflamed and the pressure of intercourse causes deep pain. I have heard of a lot of women with this, and it becomes very painful, especially right at the opening of the vagina. There are some ways to minimise the pain and in some cases cure the pain all together. I suggest bringing this up to your gyno, and also looking into Naturopathy or Chinese Medicin, there is a lot that can help the body that isn't man made or synthetic. Make sure to check refrences and past patients before using the new doctor.

    GL!

  • This may be a little "duh", but is there a chance you have a very mild yeast infection? I know I have had yeast infections that were so mild-or early- that I didn't have any symptoms, just burning during and after sex. Especially when you pee afterwards. (Because everyone knows to pee after every time.)

  • I know your post is a few years old, but if you are anything like me it took you years to have the problem you spoke about diagnosed.  I currently suffer from all the above and I was diagnosed by a specialist in pelvic heatlh with vestibulititis (the pain during entry also known as vulvodynia), pelvic floor dysfuntionc (the burning feeling during sex), and interstetial cystitis (this adds to the pain during sex, but you would only have this if you have a problem with what you think are recurring UTIs).  I've attached the links below so that you can read the symptoms and see if they do in fact apply to you.  I know how frustrating this whole diagnosis process is as it took me 4+ years and 5-6 different doctors to finally get an answer.  I'm currently on whole bunch of medication and I have to use a cream and valium suppositories.  I'm also attending a physical therapist who specializes in women's health in order to relief the tension from the pelvic floor dysfuntion and retrain my muscles.  I see you live in FL (I live in NJ) so unfortunately I can not recommend my doctor.  I wish you luck with eveything and hopefully you've already been diagnosed if not I hope this information will help!!  If you want to talk about this anymore just let me know and I can shoot you my email/facebook info!
