Anyone ever taken Femcon Fe?

My OB gave me sample packs of them...they are mint flavored and chewable (Yaz was being stupid for me, and why they are mint and chewable, god only knows) Anyone had these? I've never heard of them. Are you supposed to be reminded to take them before a date seeing they're minty? Weird stuff.

Re: Anyone ever taken Femcon Fe?

  • I was on them for about a yr before I got my IUD. They made me less biotchy then other pills I was on (I had been on bcp for 15yrs before getting my IUD and various ones at that). I also did not have a lack in sex drive nor did I have weight gain. Since getting my IUD though (non hormonal) I have found out that my overly biotchyness was due to bcp so I will never be able to go back on them. Tha t is if I'd like to stay married LOL

  • I'm on them and love them. If you are out and forgot to take them you don't need to take a glass of water..just pop it in the mouth and not only does it prevent pregnancy but makes your breath nice LOL.

  • I have been on them for 3 years now and I love them.  It took about 3 months for my body to fully adjust to them but it was like that with any pills I've tried and I've tried a few diff kinds.  I like these the best.  The only downside is they are sooo expensive.  I don't know what other pills cost now but these cost over $70 a month (with my insurance) and that annoys me to no end. I've done so well on these, I'm scared to switch to another brand so I'll just suck it up and pay the $70.

  • I hated being on Femcon Fe.  My gyno started me out on these, and I was paying a fortune for them...turns out, the only reason you pay $50-$70 for each pack is simply for the stupid mint flavor.  The idea is, not only do you not need to swallow one with water, but you can chew it up like a breath mint.  I have no problem swallowing pills, so when I finally realized that there are $9 generic birth control pills available at Target/Walmart, I had my gyno switch me to those (Trisprintec).

  • These used to be called Ovcon which I was on, I believe the hormones are 0.4/35.  I was NOT going to spend that much on bcp, and I work in a pharmacy.  So, I did some research.  I'm now on Necon 0.5/35.  It's .1 difference and still very low dose hormones, and it's generic.

I'd like to get off hormonal bcp altogether, but I have PCOS and have been told that I shouldn't.
