You're doing the Dr Sears alternative vaccination schedule, right? Just wondering if you took into consideration the Hawaii school health requirements. I'm trying to figure out a vaccine schedule and just discovered that in order for kids to start preschool (or enter daycare or anything) they have to have a certain number of vaccines by certain ages. For instance, they need 3 HepBs by 19 months, but the Dr Sears schedule doesn't start them until 2 years. And they have to have 3 polio by 19 months but the Dr Sears schedule only gives them 2. Wondering if you knew this and how you figured them into your schedule.
Here's the requirements:

Thanks!
Re: Renee (& those in HI who did alt vaccine schedule)
My Dr. and I took into consideration school but actually didn't think day care was considered public school (duh on both of our parts) so I had a mild panic attack when it came time for a records of Ashton's shots to give to the dc provider. As of right now, I am still doing the alternative schedule (there are ways around it).

Some states, like OK, allow parents to deny vax on personal or religious convictions and have a form that is filled with the health dept. saying so. Perhaps Hawaii has that option? It basically excuse your child from having their immunizations up-to-date to start school.

Maybe that site has info. for Hawaii and/or Nevada?

HI only allows religious reasons.
Hmm...what religions don't allow vaccines, anyways? Maybe I'll convert. Haha.
Guess I'll have to figure out a way to get all those shots in by 19 months.
Maybe Jehovah's Witness? They're the ones that don't allow blood transfusions lest they're tainted by an unbeliever's blood or something, right?
How do the families react when this happens? (Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread - I'm just curious, since I imagine they must be pretty upset, even though it's clearly for a good reason.)
Interesting. I wonder if they felt forced into that because it goes against their religious beliefs, or if they were secretly relieved. I can't imagine a parent not wanting medical care for their child even if it goes against their church's teachings, know what I mean?
