what's cooking?

Hi Girls,

I'm bored at work so I'm perusing different recipes.  Tomorrow (since I'm off at 245!) I'm making pot roast.  DH is so excited because its his favorite.  And for me its one of those fun to make comfort foods.  And who doesn't love the smell when you walk in and its been in the crock pot all day?

So, what do you like to make?  I'm so excited to have time to cook again that I want to make all kinds of my favorite things.  Give me some new ideas!

Re: what's cooking?

  • I don't really cook or know how to cook (actually eating instant oatmeal for dinner right now) but I do love quiche. It is easy to personalize just how you like it. Happy cooking!
  • Oooh yay another person who loves to cook... and I LOVE the smell of pot roast when you come in from a long day... unfortunately DH is a vegetarian and I don't want to make stuff like that for just me... so I only have it at restaurants or if I get lucky enough to drop in at mom and dad's when they're making favorite comfort food like beef stew, pot roast w/ potatoes and carrots, or my mom's awesome meatloaf (as a kid I never would have imagined myself saying that, lol!).

I love food- I love eating it, but even more I love cooking and baking.  Its funny, after I cook or bake, I typically don't want to eat what I made... very weird, I know.

I have a sort-of blog that shows my baking adventures- although I've been VERY lazy lately and haven't cooked / baked anything for it- http://www.midnightbakingadventures.blogspot.com   I am dabbling in cake decorating, so its mostly for that and my cookie decorating.

I made Bouef Bourguignon a couple of weeks ago- it took some TLC but was Soooooo worth it! Very yummy.

I like to pull random cookbooks off my shelf-o-cookbooks then just find a random recipe... always an adventure!

I recently started trying to make Moroccan food--- I got a Tagine for my birthday and I love it! :)

Another nestie has a blog- Cooking in Cucamonga - her SN is JanetPlanet    (and I believe there is a number at the end but I'm brain dead right now and can't remember it- I'm thinking 120?? Lori or Robyn- can you help me out here? :) )

Don't worry about tomorrow. After all, today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. Take each day as it comes...one at a time. Midnight Baking Adventures Blog
  • Lena- You had a blog I didn't know about? Crying I just added you to my follow list. Smile
  • I haven't been doing much cooking lately which is sad. Some of my staples are sauteed green beans with Olive Oil, garlic, onion, salt and pepper. Cook them till they are cooked but still slightly crunchy. Dh loves couscous. I make it like directed and add in some sauteed garlic, onion and bell peppers (I like TJ's chopped, frozen bell peppers). Some parmesan cheese and chopped cilantro. It's yummy.

  • I like baking more than I do cooking.  Since DH started working night I rarely cook anymore.  He does all the cooking and leaves it for me for dinner.  I do bake on occasion.  I have a blog with some of the things I have made.  I update it occasionally http://brandiscupcakery.blogspot.com/
  • I think she's JanetPlanet20 but here's a link to her blog:  http://cookingincucamonga.blogspot.com/

I also get a lot of ideas off of the What's Cooking board.

DH got me a couple of Trader Joe's cookbooks and I do A LOT of our meals out of those.

  • I'm a cooking magazine lover so I have way too many subscriptions going and a lot of the stuff I make it pulled from one of those. My blog is peppered with some recipes that have been big hits in our house but I love Everday Food and Kraft magazines. You can peruse their websites for recipes that they feature in their magazines.
