Would you ever consider seeking professional help...with your house? I like to do things myself, but I'm considering bringing in a pro for a consult. If you have a recommendation, bring it on.
Re: Interior Decorators
There are moments when I have considered hiring someone to help with our place - mainly our living room. The costs that can be associated cause me not to explore it further
I like to think that if I had enough time/motivation I could do it myself - there are some very helpful shows on TLC, HGTV, and A&E about home remodeling/decorating.
Are you thinking of just surface changes or full on demo?? Either way more power to you!!
We just bought a house and we want to demo all the bathrooms and eventually remodel the kitchen, but right now I'm focused on cosmetics.
I have never thought about bringing in a professional, but being a new homeowner myself, I have also been struggling with decor and design.
Have you looked into any of the free classes that some stores like Home Depot put on? Also, I have gone through stores & catalogs like Ikea and Crate and Barrel that have rooms set up for inspiration. Also D Zin on Mason Montgomery road has designers in store and they help create floor plans to meet your needs. i have'nt used them, but have 3 cousins that did and are very happy.
Honestly, what I do is find colors I like that are being used in retail settings. They have professionals that find colors to put in those stores. Why not use their professional design choice?
You could always post pics of your house on decorating and renovating, and see what is suggested.
brummy had a professional pick out the colors for each room in her new house and then she did the painting herself. I'm not sure that she gets on here often but you can try paging her or I can ask who she used if you're interested.
Latest Blog Update: Peanut Butter Cookie with Salted Peanut Caramel
Thanks! The problem with my house is that we have cherry trim, not white. I picked out colors last year and I am so unsatisfied with my choices. I am tempted to paint the trim this time around, but at the same time we have these beautiful doors and I don't want to cover them up. I also don't want to have to buy new blinds (cherry). argh.
Good point about the decorating board. I never have even visited it!
I spend most of my Nest time on the D&R Board. I second the suggestion about heading there. The ladies are very helpful. Although I'm still tempted to let someone sweep in and do the work for me.
