mover reccs.

The move is coming upon us quickly and we need a moving company.  We're just using them for our big furniture (king bed, entertainment center, kitchen table, that kind of stuff...).

So, who have you used that you've been happy with their service?  Anyone to avoid?  We're trying to find the best combo of price/dependability.

Any suggestions appreciated.

p.s. anyone wanna volunteer to move boxes and all the random junk that is everywhere in this apartment????  Everytime I think I get a lot done with purging/donating - it seems like there is so much more that should have gone too.  It doesn't help that I'm a 'throw awayer' and DH is a 'keep everyhing(er)'

Re: mover reccs.

  • I used All Star Moving for the last 10 years. They even moved me out of state when I moved to New Mexico.

  • We used Square Cow Moovers when we moved a year and a half ago and they were wonderful!  They were quick, courteous and to the point; getting stuff moved and loaded/unloaded fast and where we wanted it.  We really liked that they didn't have any hidden fees!  There was an Ad on Yelp for 25$ off a full move too in case you change your mind about only moving the big stuff.  Good luck!
  • I've used M&M Movers for the last 3 moves and they've been awesome.  Really friendly & nice, and no damage to our furniture.  If you sign up for the quote online, there's usually an extra % off.

Ditto this. We used them for our move and were very happy.

  • We've used All My Sons 3 times now. Always happy. I like that you pay by the hour. Believe me when I tell you the guys don't drag their feet to get extra money from you. A nice money saving feature is that they will let you help load the truck, you're just not allowed up in it (liability). When we moved from our 2 story townhome, we had 75% of our crap already down in the garage for them, and our furniture broken down and they loaded up the truck in the blink of an eye. I think I remember their employee's are all full time and not "day laborers" too. That might be part of why I went with them.

I'm a throw away kind of girl too - just keep working at it!

Another rec for M&M!  When they moved me last summer, they showed up right on time, and even helped me take apart a couple of pieces of furniture (since I wasn't quite ready for them to arrive when they did, ha ha!).

  • We used blue whale for our last move. We picked them based on customer service experience in trying to get quotes and set up the move, and because they disassemble/reassemble furniture and disconnect/reconnect appliances for no extra charge.
  • I've always used Apple - all good experiences except the last one, they dropped our armoire down the stairs.  Took lots of complaints and several months to get the thing fixed.  Because of that, I don't recommend them, which is unfortunate because they've done a good job in the past.
