So last week my sister called and told me that she was driving up for the weekend because she had a grad school interview today. That sent my brain into suspicion mode about my baby shower but by the end of the week I had mostly convinced myself that I was crazy because there was no way she managed to coordinate an interview and a shower in the same weekend.
Haha .. jokes on me! There was no interview! My mom and sister drove up from VA on Saturday and we had a great time hanging out. We went out to dinner that night and played some card games when we got home. Yesterday I went out to brunch with my DH, sister, and a few friends. When we pulled into the driveway after brunch there were balloons attached to the street sign!!! I think I giggled my way all the way up the driveway. It was great! DH's whole family was all there (parents, sister, great grammy, aunts, cousins), my aunt, uncle and cousins all drove up from Foxboro, my mom's brother and his wife came out from Albany, we had friends drive in from NH and Conn. It was a standing room only crowd. Thank goodness the weather turned out so beautiful so people could go outside! (It was a Jack and Jill ... I know the guys enjoyed being able to escape the baby stuff too). There were also gifts from a ton of out of town friends and family that couldn't be there but wanted to be there in spirit (apparently it was quite a feat trying to intercept and hide all of the packages before I saw them). We were completely ovewhelmed by all the love and generosity. ![]()
We are also very overwhelmed by the PINK! We got some AMAZING gifts that we love but wow there was a lot of pink. We had registered for pretty much everything in blues and greens because we aren't huge on pink and we wanted stuff that would still work if we have a boy in the future but alot of people went off registry and bought stuff that was pink because we were having a girl. Oh well ... I guess that's what having a little girl is all about. ![]()
Re: Surprise!!!! It's a shower.
I had a feeling there was no interview! Hahaha, that's so great that you were surprised! It sounds like you had a really awesome shower :-) It was a gorgeous day for it too, that's for sure!
I hear you on pink - that's just one of the many reasons I'm glad we are team green because if it is a girl (like I think) I know we would be bombarded with pink, and I would HATE that :-P
What a great surprise!
And I hear both of you on the pink - not a fan. That's a bummer they went uber pink on you but at least now everyone will know she's a girl.

Sounds like a great party! That's wonderful that you had so many friends and family members come from so far away.
I found it pretty difficult at first to shop for clothes for my niece that weren't pink. I would always try so hard but sometimes I couldn't avoid it. I think little boy's clothes are so much cuter than girl's clothes. So many tiny polo shirts!
haha ... about halfway through the gift opening I was asking myself why we bothered to find out. All I could see was pink! Of course I had to remedy this by going out and buying a cute blue/green outfit yesterday after my dentist appt and then I felt a little better.
