Weekend in Indy?

We're thinking of taking a weekend trip to Indy next month.  Any hotel and restaurant recs?

We'll probably check out the zoo.  What else is there to do?

Re: Weekend in Indy?

  • If money was not an option I would suggest the Conrad. The Canterbury is also supposed to be nice, I have not stayed there in 10 years though.

As for stuff to do. i would hit up the Mass Ave area. It is really cute. Maybe hit up the City Market.

  • We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn downtown, beautiful building!  We like Scotty's downtown too.  If you go, get the peanut butter pie YUM!

  • We went to the Children's Musuem last year.  It was fun but it's not the place to go if the sound of a few thousand (happily) screaming children makes you feel bonkers.

  • Here are some places I love.

Beef & Boards - dinner theatre  beefandboards.com (NW side of town)

    Nicky Blaine's - martini bar downtown nickyblaines.com

If you really want a hot, romantic night, the sybaris (NW side of town) is a fun place to stay sybaris.  Check out the last minute deals, the prices go down quite a bit, or if you sign up for their emails you'll get the specials.  Though I recommend an afternoon over an evening.

Walk around downtown, it's a great walking city.

Eagle Creek is a great park/marina where you can rent boats  or kayaks.  There is a great restaurant nearby Ricks Boatyard Cafe  www.rickscafeboatyard.com

Broad Ripple is a great place to shop and wander during the day.  Great shopping, great museums, and great restaurants.  At night it becomes a big party place.

    Have fun

  • I've stayed several times at the Embassy Suites downtown and love it there.  They have a happy hour with free drinks and snacks and an amazing continental breakfast that includes homemade omlets.  There's a huge mall attached to the hotel and a bunch of restaurants and bars are within walking distance.  Have fun!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions.
  • We always go to the Hard Rock Cafe when we are there. Downtown Indy is so nice and clean.
