I lied.

I remembered I already had a private meeting with the manager today so I decided to give my notice then.

I'm pretty sure he went into the bathroom to cry afterward.

I told the owner too. She's sad, but she's from Boston so she understand . . . she said she wishes she could move too.

I feel sad, but liberated. It's hard because this was my first "real job" and there are many parts of it that I enjoy . . . but it's time to go. No one said it would be easy.

Re: I lied.

  • Definitely not easy..., but better to give notice than nothing...

Have a drink for your liberation!!!

  • I can't imagine how hard it was to do this. As much as I dislike my job at times, I would have a hard time letting it go. Good job though! I hope the next two weeks aren't too painful for you, especially with training a new person.

Also, I am super jealous that you will have some time off at this time of year. I mean I know you'll be looking for jobs but still. Enjoy it while you can =D.

I actually gave 6 weeks notice which I know is insane, but I've been here 4 years and we're kind of like family . . . family that drives you absolutely bonkers most of the time.

I am excited about time off back home in June. I'm going to job search and hopefully take a quickbooks class, but in my spare time I'm going to be playing outside!

Well that's very considerate of you to give such long notice. That should be plenty of time for them to find a replacement and get him/her as much training as possible. So now hopefully it's an easy 6 weeks ahead of you.

As far as the spare time playing out side...let's trade places =P

  • Well, the worst part is over then.  I think you made the right decision (not that my opinion counts or anything, lol).  Hope you find something else quickly and that you can enjoy the nice spring time.
  • Congrats!  GL with the job search!

  • Today is YOUR independence day :)  (Said like the president in the movie Independence Day).

Good luck in your job hunt!  Hope you find something both fulfilling and with a mega paycheck.

  • How exciting! I bet you feel like a million bucks with that off your chest. It's all happening so quickly for you ... hooray!
  • That's awesome.  Good job.  It's a scary thing, but there's one quote that's been my guiding force for a few years now and it has paid massive dividends:

?Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinions of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth.?

  • Thanks, ladies. Most of my friends and family has been supportive, but a few people I know are giving me "ARE YOU CRAZY?" looks so it's nice to know I have people who believe in me!
  • Good for you! And I think you get lots of good karma for giving so much notice. You're going out in style!
