We have a rabbit problem in our area. Well, more specifically, our house. I think a family of wild rabbits have moved in and have procreated in our front bushes. Cute right? Ya - at first but notsomuch anymore.
My dogs go apesh!t everytime I let them out (Jack Russels) and even though the rabbits are in the front - they taunt my dogs by hanging out juuust on the other side of the fence - and my dogs proceed to bark and dig all day. So now I'm paranoid and only let my dogs out just long enough to do their business and I feel like I have to supervise. Yesterday I let one of my dogs chase the rabbit out - knowing there was no way that he would ever catch it. But low and behold it's back! I've spotted a rogue rabbit in the backyard munching down on my shrubbery - not cool.
So - is there a NO KILL way to repel or get rid of these rabbits? I don't want to have to go out and spend money on live traps... maybe if any of yall have some that I can borrow that would be appriciated. That way I can let them loose in the woods. But I wasn't sure if there was a repellent of some sort or what. Help me!
Re: Help with a rabbit infestation...
A fungicide with Thiram in it. It's a chemical component and the rabbits absolutely hate the smell of it. But really you have to apply it every month or more often. It's pretty toxic though so I'm not sure if you can spray it on all plants.
Or just get live traps.
You could also call a local animal control or local animal relocator to relocate them for you.
Ok, so I was going to recommend this site...until I read this part:
One of the best "homemade" organic rabbit repellents is the soiled cat litter from a cat that has killed and eaten wild animals. Spread such cat litter, while still fresh, around your landscaping trees or garden once a week.
Seriously? Ew.
Once a week? Yuck!
