anyone have trouble getting their IUDs inserted?
I finally made the appointment to get my IUD, took the late afternoon off work, and I think my body hates me! My Dr. wasn't able to get my cervix to dilate enough to get the IUD inserted today. She said this sometimes happens with women who haven't had children, so she gave me a prescription for something that they often use with pregnant women to get the cervix to dilate and I'm going to try that before my next appointment.
Anyone else have any issues like this? Did it eventually work out for you? Any info or thoughts?
Re: anyone have trouble getting their IUDs inserted?
I had a difficult insertion, and I also was told that it's best to have it during your period when the cervix is softer (I didn't have mine inserted during my period). I was given the cervical dilator as well and told to take it the morning of the appt. It made me crampy too.
As I recently posted, I had to have mine out yesterday. Because I had it inserted before I had ever had a baby, my uterus was too small and it created far too much blood loss. I had a lot of problems because of the blood loss, because of my own health issues. Anyway, just to let you know that many doctors recommend that IUDs only be used in women who have already had pregnancies of some considerable length (not sure it would have to be a full 9 months though) because of the heavy bleeding issue.
Like I posted, the removal was very easy and although it hurt, the pain lasted only 3 seconds or so.
This. My ob had me call when I was menstruating. I took some advil when I got to the office and hardly felt a thing.
