Enter 8 am temper tantrum.

I received a call back from the lab about the email I sent last night asking them to not do the karyotyping.  They weren't to proceed without my approval according to my doctor.  Why I thought that was golden, I have no idea but now they are telling me that they have already started the first stages and I will be charged regardless.  This is the most expensive of the three and has to be done on both me and D.  A thousand dollars right there.

I foresee another meltdown in my near future.

My faith, patience, hope, and belief have been tested.  This sucks.

Re: Enter 8 am temper tantrum.

  • What?!?  That blows.  I'd continue to fight it, you have documentation that you requested they NOT perform the testing.  I'd also try contacting your doctor, since he said they couldn't do it without your approval.  If all else fails, I'd fight it when it goes to your insurance and you get a bill.  That's ridiculous.  I'm sorry Sad

Um, yeah, that should be their problem then.

Talk to your doctors office, see if they have that request in writing.

    I'm sorry, lady. WTF.

  • Gah, I feel like I am 4 years old and should have snot and boogies running all down my face.  I called the lady back at the lab and she was VERY understanding and compassionate about the situation.  Dr. D is a LONG time Dr. of theirs and she said she may be able to pull a favor.  Called the VP and VP authorized to stop the karyotyping and eat the cost.  My Dr's office mistake, not the lab.  Mary (lady at Dr. D's office) had no reason or right to tell me what she did as holding samples isn't in their protocol.  Which I thought was odd when she told me.

Anyway, we can have the karyotying done at an in-network lab and it wont cost us a penny.  Saves us 1500 bucks. Phew!

Thanks for the support ladies! once again, you keep my back bone strong.

  • Yay.  Things have a way of working out...  May take a few phone calls (almost typed phew phone calls - still early for me.)

They do.  I just wish it didn't suck so much in the in between time.  I'm sure you can relate to that.
  • Glad they stopped and won't charge you. Stay strong lady friend - keep fighting.

  • I'm so sorry you have to continue going through this crap. You don't need to pay for someone's incompetence. Maybe if you post the lab's phone number we could all give them a call and tell them what we think of this bullsh*t.

I wish I had better words of wisdom or a solution to make this all go away.

    Stay strong.

    Stay strong

  • Yay, I'm glad to hear it's going to work out in your favor!

THAT'S RIGHT. Otherwise there were going to be some novembie busting some knee caps. RESPECT.

(On a more realistic note, I am happy that things are looking a little bit up again.)

Oh C, you make me giggle.  Thank you. Big Smile
  • It sucks you have to deal with their mistake.  But yeah for finding an in network lab to do this test.  It can be a pain dealing with insurance companies and doctors offices but it looks like it is paying off for you.  Keep at it.  Stay strong.
