Holy Tax Return!

I've procrastinated doing our taxes because I usually owe and DH only gets a couple hundred back.  Apparently, we should have gotten married years ago.  We're getting a lot back.  Sooo freakin' happpy.  And a little scared I did something wrong but I've checked and triple checked.

Between this, the insurance money from the oil spill and my new job it's been a really good few days.  Too bad I'm too tired to get very excited, lol.

Re: Holy Tax Return!

  • Yay!!!  Things are turning around for you missy!  Good things always come to those who wait!  :)
  • Yay for tax returns!
    Anniversary
  • Awesome! It's probably b/c you're a home owner - we owed big time this year!!

Yeah that really sucks but you made a lot more money too. I bought the house by myself and usually right off the taxes and interest. The only thing I can figure is it changed DH's tax bracket since we filed jointly. He also bought a car last year and we got a credit for the taxes paid on that.
  • I'm so happy to be reading all of this good news from you now, Jenni!  What a nice change.
  • Yay for big tax returns!  Our account still isn't done, but hopefully I'm as lucky as you!

It's making me feel bipolar with all the highs and lows! I'm curiously excited but waiting for the other shoe to drop! We need a new roof - hopefully that's the only bad thing for awhile.

    Me too!

Our tax return was crazy this year too.  It was completely unexpected so we get to put siding on our house.  Very exciting...but with all of the credits, I was a little scared for our country also.  That's a lot of money to give away.  =S

  • Sorry my phone is stupid. And curiously = cautiously.
  • That's awesome!! I did well this year too, because we bought our house!  :)  It will never be this good again! :)
  • That's awesome Jenni!

Question:  Due to DH's student loan repayment plan, next year we'll most likely have to file "married, filing separately."  Do couples only see the benefit of being married come tax season if they file jointly?

We don't see a benefit either way. We had to change our W4's to single-0, and we still owed. For us, marriage meant a major tax hike....

    married 7.3.08 - mc 8.10 - dd1 6.4.11 - cp 10.13 - dd2 7.16.13
  • That's great news!

Speaking of tax returns we sent our Fed taxes in a couple of months ago and finally got our return over the weekend. What a welcome surprise that was!

  • Great news!  The same thing happened to us this year too.

By the way, it sounds like things are really turning around.  Smile

    That was our situation too.

  • That's AWESOME news Jenni!! So glad you are getting back on track with things!!
