1 yr Anniv plans with a newborn

Ok so trying to think of something to do for the 1 yr anniv but i'm preggo due any day so we will have a newborn. We really can't rely on the grandparents for babysitting (espec over night). I was thinking of maybe going somewhere overnight and taking the baby but can't be that far since I would have to drive (not taking a newborn on a plane).. Any suggestions.. live in Northern NJ.. we both love to travel so might as well get this baby use to it right away!!

Prob going to Saratoga Springs for the Races in Aug..with baby..

  • You could always go to the Jersey Shore... might be easier to just delay your anniversary trip by a couple of months so that you have a little more flexibility.

  • Anything in particular your trying to do?

Maybe get a B&B in New Hope, PA

How about a swanky hotel in either Annapolis, MD, Philly, NYC - Kick back and order Room Service?

  • I agree with waiting a bit. Do a nice dinner (maybe something where the grandparents COULD watch the baby) and then wait until the baby is a bit older to travel.

I third this. I'm in a similar boat, though our baby is due 2 days after our anniversary, but if he came early our plan would be the same--just to do a nice dinner in town and plan an anniversary trip for later. You never know how you'll be feeling, and if you're sleep-deprived, it may be more stressful to travel with the baby than just stay home and wait until you can leave the baby with grandparents or until the baby gets onto a schedule where travel may not be so overwhelming.

ETA: Also, I'd be concerned about baby catching something, especially in those first 3 months.

  • Ok thanks for the advice.. still not sure what we will do but I really dont want to ask the grandparents for anything..having family issues during this whole pregnancy..but working on babysitters already

vhcoleman09: the baby will be daycare at 4 months plus i teach elem school so will be around lots of germs starting september when i go back to work.. so i might as well get her use to it now..a month isnt going to make a difference
