Wearing out his welcome...

There is a guy that has paid DH to put an engine in for him.Well the guy won't just let DH work on it, he wants to help, that's all fine and stuff but that guy (we'll call him D) wants to go to our shop at about 5:00p.m. and stay up there till about 3:00 A.M. DH can't do this, 1. DH starts getting sleepy about 8:30 anyways, 2. DH works a full time job working on cars all day, 3. I'd actually like to see my husband during the week. So sometimes I will call up there and tell DH he needs to come home, cause I know he wants to but can't get away from D. So anyways, DH will go up there at 8:00a.m. on saturdays and work till about 5:00. Well D won't show up till after 3:00 and again wants to work till 3:00 the next morning, and wants DH to stay up there with him. At first D was an ok guy alittle compulsive, but whatever. Well at one point another guy we know, C, came up there. Now C is married with a 3 year old(and I'm not going into all that) but I'll just say he needs to get his priorities in a better order. Well I happend to say that to D one day and he told me that "Well if [K](K is D's girl friend) ever called up here and said I had to come home, I would tell her to pack her [stuff] and leave." I took that as he was telling me that I shouldn't call up there and tell DH to come home. Well that little statement ticked me off. D is slipping down my list rather quickly, and DH's also. DH is trying to get D's car done as fast as he can now just to get him out. He's almost done with it, actually pretty much done. They drove it lastnight. Well now D has found all these problems wrong with his car(that BTW he did to it) and has just given up on going to the race the 24th of this month because he thinks it's gonna fall apart. He needs a gasket replaced which might take 2 hours to do. But he says he wants to get the windshield replaced before he races it, it has a crack. I mean, OMGoodness its a race car for cryin' out loud. Not to mention his car is red with green spray paint under the hood. Not the best looking car on the road. I don't know what to do to get this guy to chill out. He's also getting to where he will just walk in our house, no call "hey can I come over" He won't even knock. The only 2 houses I will just walk in is my parents and DH's grandmothers, I knock at any friends house no matter how long I've known them, especially if they don't know I'm coming over. This guy is just wearing out his welcome and I feel at times he's trying to take advantage of DH. And I just had to vent about it. Thanks for reading if you made this far.

Re: Wearing out his welcome...

  • Definitely wearing out his welcome I would say. Not cool to just walk into someone's house without calling or knocking. Hopefully your DH can get this guy's car done quick.

  • Must've missed out on the coming into your house. Um, no go, mister!

Yes, sounds like he's worn out his welcome!   I know it def would be trying for me to keep quiet if someone did that at our house.  Wow.

Luck with DH saying something if it's meant to be said!

  • There is no reason to walk in without knocking and he needs to be told that.  Your DH should say to both C and D I have to be done at this time.  I want to spend time with my wife.  If they cant handle that oh well it is not their choice.

  • Wow, I know exactly how you feel. Dh has a friend like this and it drives me BSC, and since DH feels bad for him, he always puts up with it...

Sorry you're dealing with this guy and I completely understand your frustration. Hopefully your DH will get rid of him asap so life can go on without him.

  • uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh so lame! I would RAISE UP if anyone walked into my house announced or unannounced
