Weight Watchers ?

My DH is in desperate need of a diet and exercise over-hall. So I am going to do it with him. I suggested possible doing WW to get us him on track and watching what he eats better with better portions. I did it several years ago and found it helpful. My question is to you ladies... I used to have the books (of which I cant find for the life of me in my house) but I remember the basics. I saw the online resource as well... which do you think is better to use? Is it worth the money to pay for the online stuff or should I just amazon the books to get another copy? Any other suggestions?

thanks a bunch!!

Re: Weight Watchers ?

  • I am honestly a huge proponent of doing their program (including going to the meetings).  In the last few years the program has changed slightly to try to incorporate filling foods to "keep Hungry away".  I have found that this really helped a lot in finding the right way to use your points.  Also, I feel that many people forget the Good Health Guidelines (6 glasses of liquid- not just water any more, 2 tsp of healthy oil, 2 servings of dairy, whole grain, 5 servings of fruit/veggies, etc.).  If your DH is new to this diet exercise thing, the meetings could really provide a lot of information and a way for him to ask questions.

After going to meetings for a few months, then I think people could be more successful just using the materials.  But I know the meetings make a HUGE difference in my weight loss.

  • I did it last year (online only) and lost 10 lbs, now I've gained it back (argh!) so Im back on the program. I searched the internet and found some kind of 'join free' click-through so i wouldnt have to re-pay the joining fee. It's like $17 a month and totally worth it. It really helps you to be accountable. The online calculator and tools are very useful and help a lot. I've lost 4 lbs already (in a month).
  • I am doing WW right now- lost 20 lbs in 3 months!  I am doing the flat 39.99 a month deal where meetings are included.  I have to say, I think it is much better to attend the meetings. Something about it for me, having to stand in front of someone to see how much you lost in one week.  That is a big motivator for me - never want them to tell me that I have gained!!!  I think people tend to be more successful when attending meetings, at least  that is the case for me!

I *think* the statistic is those who attend meetings lose 3x more weight than those who don't.
