Charting/Testing madness!!(may be a little TMI, but help appreciated)

I'm so frustrated.... I've been charting temp and CM like a mad woman this month and bought OPKs. I'm on day 20 (my usual O day). I had no temp spike and though CM was somewhat EW yesterday,OPK was negative.

Today, again, temp is "normal" and CM is cloudy.  I think I missed it yesterday and DH was being such an as$ that we didn't do the deed.

Does it sound like I missed my chance this month?

Re: Charting/Testing madness!!(may be a little TMI, but help appreciated)

  • Are you only testing once a day?  What time are you testing?

I got to the point where I had to test two or three times a day to make sure that I was catching it.  If I hadn't done that, I would have certainly missed the window several times.

It's possible but without a thermal shift, there is no clear indication that you have O'd.  I think you are probably still gearing up.  JMO.

  • I'm sorry I cannot help with charting questions but I can definitely tell you about an ovulation test that helped us. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It's a Clearblue Fertility Monitor. I think that it's the best. It helps you to get rid of stress and frustration about your ovulation day. It's expensive but totally worth it.

Before I bought it I used  regular ovulation tests (not clearblue) and wasted about three months of TTC as the test showed ovulation on the 17th day instead of the 13th day (as I learned later).

Anyway, I love my monitor and I think that it was the best investment ever :)

  • I also think you might still be gearing up to O. I would use opk's 3 times a day to catch my surge too. I have the clearblue easy fertility monitor, but it didn't work for me. Because it only want a morning pee stick and my opk surge usually happened later in the day, the monitor would only give me "high" readings instead of "peak" on O day. If opk's usually work, i'd just stick with that. We got chiclet on an opk month (not fancy monitor month). I would also suggest trying to chart cervical position too. For me it was helpful...but I know it isn't preferred by some b/c it can be hard to decipher the changes...and can be a little icky.

  • I agree with pp about using OPKs more than once a day.  I used them in the morning and in the afternoon.  For me, it would have been very easy to miss the LH surge if I'd only used them once a day.

  • I also dont think you O'd yet.  Remember the time between AF and O?ng can change from month to month.  Your LP usually doesnt change.  If you have any outside factors going on, it may effect when you O.  Just keep temping and charting (and using OPKs if you are already doing so).

  • I also don't think you O'd yet.  I'd keep temping and charting and using the OPKs (or try using them more than once per day).  I never used OPKs, so I don't have much insight into the best way to use them.  I also agree that learning to chart your cervical position could help.  It can take a little while to pick up on the changes, but it can be very useful when other indicators are giving you mixed messages.

  • Thanks ladies!  I woke up this morning and had a high temp.  Got home from work - lo and behold, OPK was +.  Thankfully DH is in a better mood today, so here's hoping!

This sounds a little backwards.  Once your temp rises O has already taken place so your OPK should have been positive a day or two before.  Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility?  If not, I highly suggest it.

ETA: Unless you meant you got home from work yesterday and your OPK was positive and your temp rised this morning......that makes sense.
