XP: Gatlinburg Trip

As you may have seen in my previous post that we are going to a vow renewal in Gatlinburg next month. I am looking for ideas of things that we can do there as a family (DH, DD, and I) Has anyone been to Gatlinburg recently or with LO?s? We are going to the aquarium and thinking about going to the new Titanic museum as well. I would love to find an affordable water park we could go to and just splash in the water with DD and maybe float around and relax. Any ideas are appreciated. We will be down there May 12th-16th

  • There is Dolly's Splash Country next to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. You can also check out Ober Gatlinburg.

  • We actually went to Asheville to the Biltmore Estate when we were last in Gatlinburg. Unfortunately Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is so commercialized now.

My parents always took us on nature hikes in the park & stayed away from the town area so all I can really suggest is the park/national forest.

  • We spend almost all of our time in Cades Cove looking for wildlife.  It's such a pretty place and I love all of the old buildings that are scattered throughout.  Don't know if kids would particularly dig it for a long period, though...depends on their ages, I would say.  The Dixie Stampede is a great show and dinner in Pigeon Forge.  I think kids would def. be entertained and really love eating the entire meal without utensils  Big Smile
  • Applewood farm house = AWESOME.

We stayed in a cabin at the edge of the national forest, so we were in between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The aquarium would be fun, not sure about anything else aside from ober gatlinburg--it is really, really touristy.

  • Go up to Ober Gatlinburg and ice skate.  That was fun.  And you get to see good sites.
