Wahhh. Another request for dust
Apparently we need a new breaker box in order to get our electric certified (our financing requires this), so now this box has to be put in tomorrow in order for us to close on time. I think the realtors are paying for this for us. :-/
CLOSINGONTIME dust plzzzzz!

Thanks kaley and barb. Stupid stupid process.
barb, what issues are you having? Don't let me be the only one to go on and on about house stuffs.

We still haven't gotten our clear to close...at first we were required to have another appraisal (the house we are buying is being flipped, there's a silly 90 day no-flip rule that is currently waived, but the underwriters still follow it - we were 3 days inside the 90...grr). So needless to say, the underwriters want to know why we are paying $50k more than the house was bought for 3 months ago. Now we have been told the appraiser just has to show proof of all the work that was done to update the house. We were told this 2 weeks ago, and also told we'd have the clear to close 1 1/2 weeks ago. Still nothing....damn appraiser is not supplying the info quick enough! We're supposed to close on the 22nd but I'm not holding my breath.
It just sucks because we've been trying to set up our Uhaul, appliance deliveries, visits from the electrician and plumber, etc...such a pain!
And, Steve just found out he has to travel for work this Sun-Wed and we close Thurs. *sigh*
Oh no, barb! FWIW, our appraiser was apparently super shiitty and was the cause for three of our big issues the past couple of weeks. Isn't it horrible that you have to wait for all these other people to get moving and do their jobs?! Meanwhile here we sit as buyers trying to figure out our life while everyone pulls the rug out of from us at every turn.
Vibez that the appraiser gets in your house and provides the information the bank needs! If you have to move until your H gets back, can you postpone the move?

If its any consolation, we had to install a garbage disposal the day before our sale closed. Gotta love the last minute scrambles, eh?
Hopefully it all works out. Chances are if the sale has come this far everyone will do all they can to make it happen.
Good luck.

JB, thanks. It's sooo frustrating, and I can't stand living amongst the emptiness and boxes of our apartment longer than we have to.
A garbage disposal... really?
Lucy Elizabeth 10.27.12
Yup. They did their walk thru on a Weds evening, closing was Friday morning. I found out Thurs morning that during the walk thru they claimed the disposal had a crack in it and needed to be replaced. Quite possibly a load of crap, but I'd already busted my arse to get all of our stuff out on time and had turned in the keys. I was done with the place and it no longer felt like home with all our stuff gone. At that point, a few hundred bucks more in repairs...whatever...not worth the sale falling through. We needed the sale to happen so we could pay my rent in the new apt I had lined up.
Told my agent to make it happen (he had keys) and to take the $$ out of what we'd get back at closing. They were doing the disposal repair as the closing was happening.
In my experience as both a buyer and a seller, the days surrounding closings are prone to crap like this. The day of our closing as buyers we had to drive an hour out of our way to H's bank to get a signature they could've told us about a week ago AND I had to get a cashiers check for one of those sneaky fees we apparently agreed to pay. Stress.
It'll be worth it once you close though.

The last minute crap is such a headache... and its 10x worse now than it was 5 years ago because appraisals and such weren't a big deal then. As much as I can't wait to get out of our current house and buy a new one, I dread the actual process because I know its going to be a giant PITA.
Good luck Mames -- hopefully they get everything done in time!

We're not even in a down market, but we had a horrible appraiser, which results in three out of four of my snafus the past few weeks.
