My supper club has 2 expecting couples, so at our next dinner we are going to throw a surprise shower for them. We are on a limited budget since it is me/DH and one other lady in our supper club putting this together. But we wanted to surprise them with something special since we are all so excited for the little ones.
Decorations: The problem is that one of the expecting couples is hosting, so we need to be able to come in and decorate in 5 to 10 minutes. This isn't going to be anything over the top, but I want to do a few things that will have a big impact. I was thinking balloons and maybe a banner like this- both couples aren't finding out the gender. Any other ideas/themes??
Presents: I'm thinking of making a basket/bag for each couple but again am on a limited budget. I tried to scope out their registries but only 1 couple is registered at this point. Any ideas for inexpensive items? I was possibly considering making a diaper cake for each of them. Thoughts?
Food: The host couple is serving Fettucini Alfredo. The other people usually provide salad, veggie and dessert. I was thinking of volunteering for dessert and maybe making something "bee" related to go with the theme. Do you have any good bee related ideas? Or any other cute food ideas?
Games: Should I even do this since it is such a small group? Or is there one that you think would be fun to play?
ETA: After looking at another bee themed party, I think I might give the moms-to-be some Bert's Bee products to pamper themselves if I end up going along with the bee theme.
Re: Baby Shower Opinions Needed!
its just kind of an odd situation since the dinner host is being showered.
i'd try to come up with an excuse to switch it to someone else's house.
love the bee theme!
Hahaha! DH tells me I'm not allowed to drink the water! Another supper club in our neighborhood all started out with 1 kid and and every month another couple announced they were expecting their 2nd!
::snort::
I was going to suggest a dessert w/ honey, but I can't really think of anything besides yogurt w/ honey. I think for the gift baskets you could get a lot of different general little things. Maybe a small cardboard book, some paci's, some kind of chew toy/ring thing, a small stuffed animal, and maybe an outfit? If you wanted, you could wrap everything in a blanket instead of getting a basket, more functionalThanks for the ideas! For the babies- I'm thinking of making mini diaper cakes (if possible) and then doing a small gift like what Terp described much better than I could! For the moms- Bert's Bee's something For the dads- BEEr They are both big drinkers and probably would appreciate a 6 pack more than anything!
For the dessert, I found a orange chocolate cake recipe. The icing is a orange/yellow color with a chocolate cake. So I was thinking of decorating the top of the cake with some bees and such. But I want to look into the cookies too!!
Just found these onesies on Etsy for $9!!!
