Gerrie

Ok, I have to ask because I must have missed this completely.  What's going on with getting married in a church?  Is this like a renewing of vows or something?

Re: Gerrie

  • It all got started because I never made my Catholic Confirmation. But I always wanted to.  Over the last year I really leaned on the church a lot to get me through my tough stuff and so I really felt that I needed to do it (be official ya know). But I needed a sponsor. Of course I would want Paul but he couldn't sponsor me because we didn't get married in a church (and we couldn't get married in a church because I never made my confirmation). Sooooooo we are having our Catholic church ceremony this weekend. Then he can be my sponsor for my confirmation on May 23rd.

A lot of people have asked me if we are legally married and the answer is yes. We have a wedding at a country club and the whole nine yards. This is to have our union recongnized by the Catholic church.

Then it's our second honeymoon in Ireland on May 27th baby!!

Oh wow!!!  Thanks for explaining.  I understand about the Catholic thing.  One of my friends met a girl in Taiwan and married her- they had a legal wedding as soon as she got into the U.S. (per the green card stipulation I think) and then followed it up about 6 months later with church wedding.  It gave her a chance to plan it out, and she was really happy about it.

I've heard Ireland is beautiful!  Have fun on your 2nd honeymoon. Smile
