s/o weight loss

In the post below, it was mentioned about not getting enough calories. I have noticed that I usually eat much less than I ever used to, but I've been gaining weight so I assume this may be part of the problem. How do you know how many more calories you need to be taking in?

Re: s/o weight loss

  • I was told to eat around 1200-1300/day.

  • You can go to Sparkpeople (or another website) and enter what your current weight is, what you want your weight to be, how active you are, and by when you want to lose the weight, and they will tell you how many calories you should eat (and min and max).

    I'm eating 1200-1500 per day.

  • I second sparkpeople or another complicated calculator. It all depends on your activity level, age, weight, height, etc. Way too many factors for me to tell you. I do know that you need to eat enough to sustain your activity level, which is why that's an important factor. Someone who works out every day needs more than someone who doesn't.

  • I guess I'm going to actually have to check out sparkpeople. I definitely figured it had to be a bit complicated :P

    Thanks for the feedback!
