Tom's shoes...I don't get it.

I get the purpose and understand that it is a great cause that you are contributing to if you purchase a pair but that does not help the fact that I think they are hideous. Am I alone here?

I considered getting a pair because there must be SOMETHING about them besides looks since everybody is wearing them. But after looking on their website...I'm not paying ~$50 for shoes that are ugly.

You can thank Fly's blog for this post...

Re: Tom's shoes...I don't get it.

  • I'm not fond of the look either, but my cousin got a pair and I tried them on and they were very comfortable so I think that must be the big selling point.
  • I think some of them are cute, but then again I love flats and I have tiny feet. I would totally wear a few of the colors/styles.
  • i don't like them either. but MIL and SIL really do...

  • The one and only time I considered buying them was a day that I was wearing high heels and my feet were in serious pain. I stopped at Whole Foods on the way home from work and was hobbling around grimacing. I saw the wall of Tom's shoes and thought they were an answered prayer. Then I saw the price tag and said "eff that."

Ditto, plus DH hates the way they look and his podiatrist condemned them, so they will just not ever happen in our house. And they are also $$$ (for what they are)!

  • I love the idea of them, but they look like you've wrapped your feet in bandages.

    And they're SO narrow!

  • Yeah, I don't get it either (besides the charity part of course).  I've never seen anyone actually wearing them though that I can remember.

  • I've pictured them with capris or shorts, or even a casual cotton dress. Some of the basics I think are plenty cute:

They're definitely not every day/every thing shoes, but I don't dislike them! Also, they have a vegan line, and vegan shoes don't just drop out of the sky, you have to go looking for them.

I have super high arches, and can't wear regular flats ... they kill my arches and knees, and my feet pop out of them anyways. I'm thinking these could be awesome! Something super comfy for walking, and slighly cuter than regular running shoes.

And when looking at the price, remember you're really buying two pairs of shoes!

And if you don't like the shoes, you can always get one of these tshirts!
