Work frustration

I am soooo frustrated and need to vent!  I'm having a WTF moment.  I work in sales so I have inconsistent pay.  I was supposed to get a pretty significant bonus back in November and never got it.  In March I got something in writing saying I would be paid on it 3-15-10...never got it.  Also never got it 4-1-10.  I talked to my boss again and he agreed I would be paid in full on the 15th.  Today I checked and I only received part of it.  I called my boss today and asked what was going on.  He got very frustrated and explained that I was going to be paid, but they were spreading it out over the next 5 months.  They are telling me they will give me additional money so it will work out better for me in the long run.  He assumed that I was aware of this, but clearly I was not.  He seemed very put off, told me to think about it and call if I still had any questions, and then HUNG UP ON ME! Huh?

WTF??!!  This is not like him at all.  Not only that, he is my boss and I have every right to go to him with any questions about my pay.  I was not disrespectful.  It was very clear we weren't on the same page about how this was going to be paid out (I have never received my bonus in any form other than a lump sum).  I'm not sure if I should let it be, or ask him what was wrong with how I handled the situation (I'm pretty pissed right now and I'm not sure if that would be b*tchy.  I'm really at a loss here...

I'm pretty sure I'll DD this later.

Thanks for letting me vent!  If you think I'm out of line please give me some insight.  Mostly I'm just really confused.

    And I'm guessing if he has other employees in the same boat, he's being bombarded with the same questions. 

    What does the written notice you state about payment?  Anyone else you know that's in the same boat?  Not knowing the size of your company, I'd ask someone in HR what the deal is (assuming you have HR).
