Well it turned into a mess with Carter yesterday! I came home expecting him to still be limping at lunch. In addition to the limp being worse, there was blood and fur everywhere - he had picked at the gash and opened it up. I almost threw up, because I looked at the gash and could see the muscle underneath.
So we called my vet and rushed off. Because of the size of the gash and where it was, he had to be sedated to have it stitched up. Was not awesome for him. The price tag was not awesome either, but oh well, that's why we have the Discover card (seriously...the dogs are why we have it, its like their surgery credit card b/c we don't like to pay a zillion dollars every month).
I will say if I ever leave DH for a woman, it will be our vet. She is awesome. The tech put a muzzle on Carter and she came home and goes "Oh my Carter doesn't bite, we can un-muzzle him." And then gave me a hug b/c I was tearing up and said "This is the last thing you need with the baby and work and all!" (She just had a baby 2 months before me so we chat about them a lot). Seriously, the vet office is so overpriced on some stuff but this is why we go back to them.
Anyways, if you have some healing doggie vibes, send them Carter's way. Also some good luck vibes, the poor guy.

Poor little guy.
I hope he heals up quickly!
(Our vet is crazy expensive too...but they are close, super nice, and take great care of our furry ones. but yeah...it was $40 to have the 2 dog's nails trimmed the other day??? $40 for about 5 minutes. ick. $300 for a dental cleaning...I could go on and on...)

I know what you mean about needing a line of credit just for the vet. Knock on cyber wood I haven't had to make too many unplanned trips to my vet but know every time I go it is at least $200.
awwwwwwwwe well hopefully he will leave it alone! Does he have the cone of shame on???
Hope he has a speedy recovery!
