Dog won't let us... "you know"
Does anyone have any funny stories about their pets being way too interested in your um, marital relations? We always try to be sooo quiet to not wake up the dog but he usually ends up at the edge of the bed like, "hey-whatcha doing?" then we have to kick him out, which is a total buzz-kill. Sometimes we just want to be spontaneous but one of us always has to stuff the Kong or let him out. I love the dog but...really!
Re: Dog won't let us... "you know"
If you're in the bedroom, just close the door before the "marital relations" start. Or, kick the dog out when you first enter the bedroom.
Sidenote - We have two cats, and sometimes we'll think they're out of the bedroom, but suddenly, one will come sneaking out from under the bed and meow to be let out of the room, haha.
We have two dogs that split time with my future MIL and us. When the dogs first showed up we were a little nervous about them interupting us.
The first time it was a little wierd, but now we just ignore them.
I can't be bothered with closing the door or putting them in a seperate room. If they want to watch more power to them...if they don't, then there are other rooms in the house!
"you know"? What, are you in 3rd grade? Its called sex. S-E-X.
Furthermore, why don't you start making it a habit of not letting your dog in the room PERIOD. Then you won't have to worry about it.
::headdesk::
We have 2 dogs who sleep in our room and although we try to make them stay on the floor, we always wake up with at least 1 of them on the bed.
One of our dogs always jumps on the bed during sex. He also tries to lick our feet while we're doing it, which is just creepy. We usually kick them out and then they whine the whole time and scratch on the door.
But come on Geek, it's so much easier and polite to the dog that they have boring, quiet sex, so that it doesn't disturb the dog...come on!
OP- what will it be like when you have kids? That will KILL your sex life.
I catch my dog watching us sometimes. Not really a big deal to us.
Great thing about her is she jumps right off the bed once she notices my H trying to get it on with me. She just lays by the bed and waits till we are done.
Just wait till you have kids.
And it's called sex.
umm.. its a DOG. Kick the thing out of the house. He doesn't know whats going on!
You should check out Victorial Stilwell and see what she has to say about the alpha misconception.

This. And some of them are saying in a "bully" way that they don't have funny pet interrupting them stories because they don't allow their pets in the room and they're passing this information to you as advice to do the same, again in the "bully" form .
I'm actually pretty sure they DO know what's going on. I'm sure they have natural instincts about making puppies.
Our dogs never interrupt us, but a lot of time as soon as we're done the cats will scramble out from under the bed and I feel bad for making them listen.
Here's my funny story.
H and I were dating and dividing our weekends between my house and his. One weekend we spent Friday night at my house and Saturday at his. We are careful not to leave evidence of our sex life out for others to see, so we wrapped up a used condom, threw it in the trash and didn't think twice about it.
I got home on Sunday afternoon to find said used condom half-eaten and being used as a chew toy by my dog. My roommate at the time wasn't about to try to take it away from her. I wouldn't have had I been her either.
I don't generally allow our dog into the bedroom-- she's a 5 month old min pin who gets really, really annoying when we are both trying to sleep. So I haven't had to out up with any of her... "interruptions". But there is one funny story I can still share.
SO and I were visiting his mother and her SO last weekend. They normally go to bed early (i.e. 9 pm every night) but one night we all went out to dinner and did not even get home until around 11 pm or so. SO's mother was completely drunk, stumbling around and rambling (classy, I know) and I figured they were headed right to sleep.
Well, I found out 20 minutes later when I went to the bathroom to wash up that they both went to BED but not to sleep. For a split second I froze in horror as I heard the screams of ecstasy from SO's mother!! I turned to run back downstairs to the bedroom when all of a sudden I heard dogs barking from inside the bedroom (the hallway was pitch black and they must have heard me approaching the corner and thought I was an intruder.) I was mortified. But what was even more awkward was when SO's mother stopped her sounds-of-pleasure to scream at the dogs "OH WILL YA'LL SHUT UP!?" SO'S mother and her boyfriend have 4 dogs that sleep in the bedroom with them (3 little dogs and one huge chocolate lab)... I guess they don't mind them all lounging on the bed with them when they are doing the naughty.
And since then, I haven't been able to get horrible images out of my head (it doesn't help that when I ran terrified to SO, he laughed and said "I bet they let the dogs join in and lick their butts" ugh. men.)
We have three Border Collies. Two are willing to sleep peacefully through anything, but the third . . . she has an entirely different agenda. She apparently likes her sleep undisturbed. If we get too noisy, she'll moan and groan and roll around on the floor making the most ridiculous noises (we call it mooing). Sometimes we catch ourselves so distracted we stop to listen and laugh. The longer we continue, the louder she gets--sometimes it's like having an actual cow in the room.
Putting her in the hall does no good; she'll continue outside the door and she hates to be crated alone, so that's a no-go. We've learned to, at worst, ignore it and, at best, find the humorous side of it. After all, part of the reason we love the dogs so much is they endless entertainment they provide!
Lol I deal with the same thing. My dog sleeps with us and she likes to watch...um its a bit wierd since we look around and there she is just staring or trying to get closer to us and our parts! I am in the same boat as having to put treats in the kong or keep her occupied with something. Don't try and put the dog out the room or she'll bark for days...spoiled..yes
A dog is a pack animal which knows it's place as an Alpha,Beta or just one of the pack.
Contrary to popular belief to those who believe animals are people with human values and reasoning. Animals are animals and they have thier place.
Your pet competing with your, DH or the children for a Beta or Alpha postion in the household is not an option.
