Hey! I was looking through your blog, and again, I'm so impressed by your skills! I really want one of those berets, can I special order one? Pre-etsy shop?

Re: reine

  • Thanks!  Which beret are you talking about?  The purple Baroness one?  That is someone else's pattern, unfortunately.  But I did finish a very similar green one this week!  It's drying right now, so I haven't taken any pictures of it yet.

Do you have a color/style in mind?

  • Ahh! I don't know! So many options! ::Runs back to check blog again::
  • I do really like the baroness one... but I wouldn't mind if it were a little more lacey either... maybe an off-white color?
  • Do you like the weight of the yarn?  Would you want something finer?  Any particular fibers you like (wool, alpaca, silk)?

I ask because the only off-white I have lying around is a really really fine weight and it would take me a while to make a whole hat out of it.  I could definitely get something heavier, but I want to make sure I get something you like.

  • I LOVE alpaca! We went to an all things alpaca store in Park City, UT and I'm surprised we made it out with money in our pockets! But I would be willing to consider other fibers.

I'm also willing to consider other colors. It looks like the berets are relatively small projects, so I don't want to  have you go out and buy something! I think a medium weight would be good, but you're the expert. Nothing that's going to be too tedious for you.

  • Oh good, alpaca's my favorite Smile  Nothing could be tedious working with alpaca and berets only take ~3 hours.

The problem is that most of the yarn I have kicking around right now is a pretty fine weight because I just can't go through it as fast.  I try not to have too monstrous a stash because it scares hubby.

Two suggestions: There are a bunch of yarn shops that are really really close to me.  I can  pop over tomorrow or Monday and see if I can find ~150 yards of alpaca.  No trouble at all, I love yarn shopping.

This is the hat I just finished:

The color is actually a little lighter than this because it's wet in the picture.  It's merino, but it's washable.   I will not be offended in the slightest if you would rather a different color/fiber/lace texture.  Just let me know.

  • Oh!  I found some medium-weight washable merino in a magenta color when I got home if that interests you.  Otherwise, it'll have to be lighter weight or I'll have to go looking.

    Oh TOTALLY! Magenta? AWESOME!

  • Perfect!  I was wondering what to do with that yarn.  You're going to love it.  I made myself a pair of socks with it and they are awesome.
