GOOD LUCK on your half tomorrow!! I hope you are feeling better! Can't wait to read a race report! You'll do awesome!
I have a 10k tomorrow too, yay!
Have fun!
Re: **Lisa**
Hey Jena - thanks for thinking of me!! I am 90% sure I will run tomorrow, just hope I feel okay when I get up on Saturday. I'm on antibiotics as of yesterday, and I think they are starting to make a difference too.
Good luck with the 10K - it sound be a fun distance to run after your 1/2!
Side note - I have never actually run in an organized 10K race. I keep meaning to find one, but it seems like 5K's are much more common around here. I need to find one...
10Ks are not all that popular here either. I think this is the 2nd or 3rd "annual" one of the one i'm in tomorrow. I like the distance, it's a challenge but not so long i question my sanity (like my half, ha ha)
I am looking for another half to do but I don't think i'm going to find one any time before November.. i guess it gets to hot here and no one plans them out for the summer. I am going to run this http://www.womenshalfmarathon.com/ one in November (Tampa Race) - training for it is going to suck.. long runs in the summer in the FL heat.. wow that will be fun! ha ha!
I agree with you - 10K is a good distance to challenge yourself but still short enough that you can do it in the morning and not feel dead the rest of the day:) I think I would have a hard time trying to pace myself faster than a normal long run pace, but I guess with practice you get good at any distance.
Too bad you don't live in Minnesota, because there is a pretty good number of 1/2's that go on throughout the summer. (Not too many if July though... I bet that's a low month for races anywhere:) The Nov race looks great though, you'll just have to get up super early to run when it's not boiling out.
The 1/2 I'm supposed to do tomorrow is the closest to me of any in Minnesota, so that's why I'm so set on it. I hate too spend too much $ on gas or hotel for a race - it makes running look like too expensive of a hobby for H
However... he has started spending money on fishing gear again, so maybe I can spend some extra dollars too. We did finally catch a fish the other night...Now I'm definitely rambling so I guess that's the end.
(if you can't tell, I do NOT really feel productive today.)
Agreed, running can get expensive. So far i've gone to 2 races that I stayed in a hotel... my mom went w/ me so we split the cost and we used priceline so it wasn't to to bad.. The one in Nov I doubt H will let me get a hotel. We will live a little bit closer to the race when we move in June. ... H hasn't spent no money on fishing since Sept so I have nothing to hold over his head, ha ha!
