Do you take your pets to the vet for routine check ups? If so, how often?
We've had Toby for a year now and Gus is coming up on a year soon. I was thinking we should take them in for an annual check-up, but I don't know if it's necessary.
Re: Pet Question
Our dogs go every year for a physical and shots. One of our dogs needs his anal glands expressed monthly but that is just with a vet tech.
Our cats get shots every year at the firehouse, its free. If one of them is act out of the ordinary we do take them to the vet. But nothing regular.
Yes we take our dogs for regular check ups and shots. They are also on flea and heartworm preventative even though they really aren't around other dogs.
I used to work at a veterinary hospital many years ago and it's like they brainwashed me, lol.
Pets should be taken in once a year for an annual check up.
Same goes for me on this.
All 4 of them get check-ups annually. B/c the dogs are "seniors" now they also get extra annual bloodwork.
The dogs also go in the early spring for a heartworm test and to get the Iverheart preventative.
We also get the dog's teeth cleaned every other year ($300/dog). I had a dog die at 8 from oral cancer, so I don't skimp on the oral care anymore.
The cats just get an annual exam and the basic shots for indoor cats.
