XP: Costume ideas...I need help!

Background: we go to the Adirondacks each year  w/ ~ 40-50 people for a week. The second night, there is a theme night.

This year's theme for our annual vacay is 2010: Around the World. Each cottage is supposed to dress up as a "country" (real or imaginary) and come w/ a drink and dish that fits their country.

The people we vacation w/ take this VERY seriously. Well, seriously in that a lot of time and effort goes into the costumes.  So, I need to start working on ours now and I have NO idea what to do.

Jon and I were thinking about coming from the Country of Texas, seeing as we'll secede from the Union eventually Wink

Other ideas?? Something/ someplace that goes along w/ currently pop culture? I KNOW that at least one cottage w/ be "Margaritaville" b/c they are all huge Jimmy Buffet fans.

Aannnnddddd......GO!

  • no offense meant with this but go ghetto/hispanic and you can dress as cholo's....and mexican food is easy.
  • My roommate says go Irish and everyone get wasted

Go as Colombian and have bags of "sugar" everywhere

Yeah, he's a DPS officer. ha

  • Do japanese & serve sake bombs!!  Then you could dress up as a geisha =)!
  • OR . . . seeing as you can have fake countries. . .you could do Never Never Land and go as Tinkerbell and Peter Pan =)

I like the Texas idea myself though =P.  Nothing like a good shiner or lone star to represent the state of texas.

  • I like the ROT idea, boots and a cowboy hat for costume.....shiner and tex-mex for food!  Or, a little burnt orange goes a long way!
  • Please dress one of your children as a Dallas football player and the other as a mariachi player. You can even do your hair HUGE, wear lotsa makeup and call everyone "Darlin'".  Ain't tha' just precious?
