I tried to kick out my House Rep.

But no one is running against him, for all intents and purposes.

I googled every word combo I could think of and came up with absolutely nothing. There are several places where he's listed as the only one running. I only knew there was someone else running at all thanks to my sample ballot. Only by googling her exact name could I find her campaign website.

It wasn't easy to find my incumbent's own campaign website, which looks like something I could have made in college in computers 101.

There are 53 districts in California. According to washingtonpost.com only 8 of them are facing opponents.

Exactly how are we supposed to boot out this ineffective congress if no one is running against them? No one runs because the incumbent always wins, so no one runs against them - it's a vicious cycle. I wonder if the short terms for the house are part of the problem? Is this something public financing could help solve?

I may vote for this woman just to make a point. She's Republican, but has no social positions on her site, and seems to take a moderate/liberal stance on foreign policy. Nothing I couldn't live with.

  • This is reminding me that I have done little to no homework on my local reps.

  • I've decided I'm voting everyone out, both locally and nationally, no incumbents for me. It doesn't matter if if they are dem or rep at this point. I'm pretty sick of the whole lot and think we should just start over.

  • I completely understand your position.  I long to get rid of Kucinich!  I'll vote for his Republican opponent in November, but the real opportunity to unseat him was in the primary, and that didn't happen.  I don't know a whole lot about his opponent, but I'm not too worried about it since she'll never win. It's a shame the system works this way sometimes.

  • If you read my post this morning titled *Caden* you will see where the intelligent voters in my neck of the woods just put our incumbent William Jefferson into the run off for his House seat. And due to voter makeup he is likely to win the run off held on November 4th. Then he will be up against unknowns from the Republican, Socialist, Libetarian, and Independent parties in December for his House seat.

This is a man who has been indicted for corruption and bribery (you may have heard about the $90,000 he had hidden in his freezer).

On the positive note his trial starts in December as well and he should be found guilty so maybe then we can elect someone new.

  • This reminds me of West Wing when Sam was trying to win a seat in Orange County. It really is next to impossible to beat an incombent, and that is horrible.

I am dealing with that on an even more local level because i am working with a campaign to get a new City Counsel Member elected becuase our current city counsel is horrible. It is very very tough.
