I'm Sun Burned!

Yay!  The sun FINALLY came out!  Didn't have any time to go to the beach because the wedding was today, but I got a ton of sun and despite SPF 30, a nice little sun burn.  But it's better then going back pasty white, right?  :)

Re: I'm Sun Burned!

  • You only put SPF 30 on....IN MEXICO?  Are you missing a few toys in that attic of yours?  You're whiter than me...I don't go anywhere with out anything under AT LEAST 300 ;)

Same here... I burn way to easily!

  • LOL, I used SPF 70 every day while in Mexico and still got sunburned a little.
    Anniversary
  • Well I get the pleasant joy of being both the palest person in existance AND allergic to any sunscreen over 30.  I used to use 45 and I'd break out hives.  For the LONGEST time (like 5 years) doctor's thought I was allergic to the sun because the break out would always occur during the first part of the summer when I'd first go out.  Then they did a test on that because I guess sun allergies can get really bad and actually kill you, and that's when they discovered I was actually allergic to sunscreen.  I'm not supposed to wear it at all and just not go out in the sun, but screw that!  I've found that wearing 15 on my face and 30 on my body helps some and I don't seem to be allergic to that.

Seriously, I was never meant to go in the sun.

  • I wonder if you can pin point the specific ingredient(s) in the higher SPFs and just avoid the ones that have it.
  • I was going to say that spf 30 really should be enough, as long as you keep reapplying as directed... but with your allergy, I guess not. That sucks! Hey think of it this way Jaye - you are doing your skin a favor & will look lovely & young for a long, long time! :)

I burn very easily and hate going out in the sun (unless we're talking river trip, then I slather the stuff on every 90 minutes max.) and I just tell everyone that I will look young for a long time. My dad has had melanoma's twice so I am not messing around with the sun. It's not worth it to me.
