I've had some good and bad luck with the job search I've applied to four places. Here's about where things stand:
I had a phone interview with one place a week and a half ago, but its just one person doing most of the application review and interviewing so I know that her timeline is a bit longer. This position would take us to SC, which I'm excited about, but not entirely sure about how I feel about the South or the position itself.
I had a phone interview for another place yesterday, and the interviewer pretty much guaranteed that I was making it to the next round, which entails flying out for an in-person interview. This position is in St. Louis, which we weren't crazy about at first, but we have friends there, its closer to family and a MUCH lower COL than Boston. Its also an incredibly exciting position.
I applied for a position in the SF Bay area but heard from someone who's out there that they haven't even started evaluating applications and have a TON of them and a smaller hiring committee, this one is really exciting too so I hope to progress further in their search.
And the final one is a position near Baltimore/DC that I just submitted yesterday, so we'll see where that takes us.
Sorry that was so long! As you can tell we don't have any real geographical constraints, we're mostly trying to find the best job fit in a city we'd like to be in for at least the next 2-3 years. If anyone lived or lives (Punky!) near these locations I'd love to hear thoughts on living there!

Re: S/O from Travel Post: Job Search Update
I'm your SF Bay Area girl! I loved living there and if it weren't for my entire family (immediate and extended) being in Boston, I never would have left.
All the cities sound like great possibilities, though. I mean, I'm biased and would totally pick SF as my top choice but it sure ain't cheap to live there.
So I guess this means you're definitely moving since you didn't apply to anything in Boston?
I don't either, but good luck! It sounds so exciting to have so many options.
Thanks for the well wishes ladies, its nice to have some options finally emerging!
Its pretty definite that we'll be moving, there just haven't been any jobs in my field that have peaked my interest in the Boston area, I would like to stay where I'm at and move into a permanent position, but there won't be any openings since they had a transfer in January.
San Francisco is my top choice (location wise) too! And I must ashamedly admit to calling it "San Fran". I hope I at least get a phone interview or something for that position, its an amazing position as well. If I do get any leads with that position I'll definitely let you know and pick your brain about it! There's another opening in that area that I'm reworking my resume/cover letter for, so hopefully that leads somewhere!
