(a vent) so my birthday is coming up....

in two weeks, and the husband is a notoriously bad gift giver. Sometimes he hits a home run, and then I am ultra shocked and surprised and grateful - but usually, I have to give him leading hints as to what I want.

So this year, in general - I have had my eye on the Pentax KX camera for awhile, like since February. Problem - brand new the camera costs $650  - on ebay, I can get it for between $400-450 lightly used.

Back in Feb when I asked husband if I should buy it, he said "no, you already have a camera". and I replied that my camera is an advanced point and shoot, and  this camera is a dSLR. I really want to try and start learning how to use an advanced camera.

But, he is right - I don't NEED it - I just covet it.. but secretly I was hoping that he would buy me a used version off ebay for my birthday.

Last night though, when i was prodding him for hints to my present... he wouldnt give me any, except to say that I wasnt getting a camera because I already have a camera!

So bleh. Im being whiny and childish I know... and i should probably just suck it up and buy the camera myself now!

  • Good luck! If he doesn't get you the new camera, you can always buy it yourself afterward. :-)

My husband and I haven't even exchanged birthday gifts with one another in the last two years. We are lucky to get out and have dinner alone on our birthdays. ;-)

  • i can totally relate!

i wanted a new camera for christmas- a super expensive Nikon even though there was nothing wrong with my Kodak- it worked fine but i just didn't like it anymore. lucky for me my brother hates shopping and always buys one 'big ticket' item so i got my camera- and it was a total surprise

i agree. if you don't get it buy it for yourself!

  • Maybe he's trying to trick you and he's really getting you the camera.
