Loud Neighbor Follow Up - sorry it's long

So this weekend was an eventful one.  Eric was home all week with Vertigo.  He'd been battling headaches and nausea which started on Monday.  On Friday night before I got home, he called me to tell me our down stairs neighbor had her music blasting again and if he should call the police.  I told him if it was really that loud then it's his decision, so he did.  When I got home it was really loud.  In fact, her stereo in her living room (above our living room) was so loud we couldn't even hear our TV in the bedroom which is where Eric was most of the time.

FF to Sunday afternoon.  We came back from the grocery store at about 11 am to her blasting BEP and doing laundry in the laundry room.  When I came back out to light the bbq grill she had turned down her music and came to the bottom of the steps to confront me.  She asked if we had called the police on Friday night to which I said yes.  She then went on to say that her music wasn't even that loud and she doesn't understand why we keep calling.  I explained to her that when her music is on, as it was just a few minutes ago, our floors vibrate and we cannot hear our TV.  Of course she argued that was even possible.  She then reminded us that she can hear everything in our apartment too as well as our other neighbor who lives upstairs with us to the right of her.  I told her I don't know how that possible because we only hear them when their running the garbage disposal and they don't even share a wall.  I asked her what course of action she would like me to take then since I've already knocked on her door multiple times to ask her and still it goes up.  She told me I should knock on the floor with a broom or something.  I've done that and asked how if she could hear me talking and walking, how she can't hear when I knock on the floor with a broom.  Of course she had no answer.  Then she went on rambling about how the walls are thin and she can't live this way since she has to do everything (laundry, aerobics, piano practice) while everyone is at work.  Umm...wasn't she just doing laundry on a Sunday afternoon and didn't she ask us twice on a weeknight and weekend to stop our laundry so she could do it.  Finally Eric said the next time it gets loud, we'll knock on her door and invite her into our living room to see for herself.  Instead she said she'd turn up her stereo and come over now.  What a joke.  She turned it on to a tenth of what it's normally at (not even as loud as when we first arrived home) and tried coming into our apartment.  Eric laughed at her and told her to really turn it up like she normally does.  She then claimed that her stereo is old and vibrates if it goes any louder and this is how it is usually.  So instead he ended the convo since neither of us was getting anywhere.

As soon as we went in, I contacted the landlord who was embarrassed that she acted that way.  He said he?d make sure things changed and was sorry we had to deal with it.  We could tell when he contacted her because she threw a hissy fit and slammed just about every door in the house.

So yeah, that was our weekend.  How was everyone else?s?

  • Wow that lady is a piece of work! I love it when you make your point & the other person has nothing else to say, because they know you're right. So annoying. I bet NC is looking better & better, right?

Our weekend was good! Didn't get a whole lot accomplished other than getting my library card, lol. Got to spend some time with my nephews, which was really fun.

  • People are so freaking crazy! I'm sorry you have to share a building with that biitch. Hope your DH is feeling better. I had vertigo once. It was pretty scary.
  • ugh!  i am so sorry you are dealing with this love.  i hope it ends soon for y'all.

  • Ugh, I'm sorry you had to deal with that Cindy.  What a crazy woman!  Of course in apartment living you have to deal with some sounds like walking, running appliances, etc., but you can definitely control the volume of your TV and stereo.  Stupid b.

This is why I'm glad our condo is in a building of mostly senior citizens.  :)

    This is my favorite part!

  • I am officially nominating your neighbor for the BSC award of the year!

  • Hurry up and move to NC.  Your neighbor is a nut job.
  • Yeah NC is looking pretty damn nice right now.  Soon, very soon.

Sarah, I so need to get a new library card too.  I'm notorious for having fees on old cards from when I was in elementary school.  The library 2 blocks from my house is the only one that has a $1 fee from a few years ago.  I just keep forgetting to bring cash with me.
