We got a Keurig coffee maker as a wedding gift (it was from Kohl's). We've had to return & exchange it twice, so we're on our third one now. We took it back on Sunday and the customer service guy just told us to go get another one so we could exchange it. While we were looking at them I was thinking "why don't we just get cash back & get something else?" So we asked customer service if we could do that and he said no because all we have is a gift receipt. Thing is - they keep giving us gift receipts. Yes, when we took it back the first time all we had was a gift receipt, but we've since exchanged it twice. I guess I understand what they're doing, even though I don't agree with it.
So we are basically being held hostage by Kohl's and Keurig. What I want to get is the platinum one that makes iced coffee also, and Kohl's doesn't carry that one.
Does anyone know any way to get around this rule at Kohl's? Some way we can get cash back? All we can get right now is store credit.

Well I know the coffee maker is like $129 normally, but I also know that our friend used a coupon to buy it so I don't really know if the g.c. would be for the normal retail amount or the amount he paid for it.
If the Keurig craps out on us again then I will definitely look into this option, and then let you know & if you're still interested then that would be great! I'm sure we could find something to spend the store credit on if he had to.
The first one we had, the water reservoir was cracked & leaked. The second one, it made different amounts of coffee all the time regardless of which size cup you pressed. This one took me 4 times of pressing the brew button before it would brew... so chances are we'll be taking it back soon if it doesn't work. lol. Maybe we should just go to a normal coffee maker?
My mom has one of the first models made, she's had hers for about 4-5 years... since the beginning, and she's NEVER had a problem either! Those first models seem to be the best ones. From what I've read online the newer models just don't hold up for whatever reasons. I think they're overproducing or something. I've heard Keurig's customer service is really good, so I may end up just calling them.
Aw Sarah, I'm sorry your Keurigs keep crapping out on you. As you might remember from FB, we got one and use it daily with no problems. I would say you got a "lemon" but you're on the third one already! We have the smallest one with only one cup size, so maybe that makes a difference.
If Kohl's doesn't have the model you want, have you asked if they can order it and have it shipped to the store so you can use the credit? If not, I'd say that selling the gift card is your best bed.
Good luck! I can't imagine having so much frustrations just from making my daily coffee!
We got TWO of those kind! lol. We decided to return those ones & keep the bigger one because we knew we would be using it all the time. My parents have the same model as you have, they keep that one in their RV and it always works well. The thing is that none of our problems with our Keurig's have been really terrible (except for the cracked reservoir). I mean, when it was making different amounts of coffee each time, that was really mostly annoying. We only took them back because we had free time and figured we should take it back and get one that works properly since we plan on having it for a long time.
