Re: POLL: What is the best perk of your job?

  • Ok, not sure I could pick one... these are great but not sure which would be the most awesome:

    - the discount

    - getting to do creative work with talented people

We won't talk about the worst parts of the job.  Positive thoughts only today!

  • Flexible hours?  HA!  Worst hours ever.

Coworkers?  None, but please send some over.

Employee discounts?  Five fingered ones, when I want some snacks of the non-salted, non-flavoured variety.

Awesome insurance?  I guess you could say that.  I'm insuring that no one else is effing up my kids.  I'm the only one who can eff them up, damn it!

Best boss ever?  Uhh, I'm alright.

Great parking space?  Hells yes.  I get to park in the garage!

Eye candy?  Uh yes.  And I get to see them naked, whoooooo!

Real candy in the break room?  if I buy it, it is there.

Loving the actual work?  for the most part.

I mostly enjoy the laughs and getting to go outside when the weather is nice.

    :)

  • The ability for me to take this job with me when we moved & work from home is probably the number one perk. My coworkers are pretty awesome as well.

Other perks - company-paid happy hours when I'm in town & cake on our birthdays.

I should also add that we have excellent clients & it's a pleasure to work for a company where I really believe in the usefulness and quality of our product.

  • Flexible hours? Yes, I work 4 10-hour days.

Awesome insurance? Yep, its the state, and its pretty darn good.

Also, its no stress.  At all.  Stress free is very valuable to me.

  • Flexible hours, work from home and vacation/sick days.
  • Flexible hours- As long as I work 40 hours it doesn't matter when I work.  Not only that I easily work over 40 hours a week.  Also, I don't get paid out for my overtime up front which is really nice because it transfers to comp time that I can use for extra vacation time.  Right now I have enough hours to take at least 5 months off work, not counting sick time, and that's pretty sweet.

Coworkers- love every one of my co-workers in my direct unit (all 4 of them)

Best boss ever- I have a pretty great boss.

Loving the actual work you do- I don't know that I actually love the WORK, but it is a very emotionally rewarding job at times and I love that.

  • flexibility.  I'm the only person in my division, so I pretty much work alone and make up the rules as I go Big Smile
  • The pay me well. As a company, they pay well for all positions. Juust enough so that you don't want to go somewhere else Wink However, I like my job, so I can't complain!

    I have an awesome boss!

I like what I do. I'm not saving the world or anything, but I am doing something for people who couldn't do it themselves, and helping Mom & Pop shops run their businesses more efficiantly. When I am working with big, evil chains, its challenging, so it's never dull around here. Either I'm talking to great people, or working on a product that tests my limits.

I also work in a laid back office, where I'm wearing jeans on a Monday!

Working from home used to be something we could do regularly. New VP in California axed that, but it's still an option when I'm not feeling well, have an injured dog, etc ... in a pinch, so that's nice.

  • I'm a teacher so...

Summers off, spring break, and winter break!

And I can get a job anywhere

  • Wow. Should I be concerned that NONE of those fits my job? I don't really like anything about it....Maybe that's not good...
  • I love the work I do. That's about it since half the people I work with are nuttier than a Snickers bar and I don't get any real benefits as a temp.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I love what I do. Have new clients all the time and I work for myself. So it keeps it interesting. Pay is fair for the amount if hours and liability I have, but there are no benefits, but I get to say when I have a sick day or vacation . I also get to see some really awesome homes ...but my favorite part is when my clients do the happy dance cause they know it's the one.

  • Aside from the flexible hours, product discounts, best boss ever (MYSELF!), and loving the actual work I do...

What's awesome about my job is that I get to make people feel special and beautiful for some of the most important events of their life.  That is a very, very good feeling!  I love knowing I was a small part of them feeling great about themselves for those momentous occasions.  Also, my job has really given me some of the best friends I have ever and will ever have.  I'm so, so incredibly thankful for that.

  • now that i've moved up in my job the hours are pretty flexible.  (as in, I have a dr. appt and I just have to tell someone I'll be in late... not a lot of asking.  Now, my teaching hours are set - and not flexible at all... but mornings are pretty flexible.)

    I love what I do.

I really enjoy my boss' ideas, suggestions, and overall way she runs the place.

Coworkers are (for the most part) pretty great too.  We all love what we do - so it makes working there very fun.  It's a pretty happy place.

ETA: oh, and I get two weeks of at christmas, a week off for thanksgiving, and summers are optional (no work, no pay, but I can make it up as I go).

aaaaaand (this might be my #1) I wear sweatpants to work every single day.  If I'm feeling 'fancy' I'll wear tighter fitting yoga pants and a t-shirt.  love it.

  • I would say my flexible hours and benefits.  I enjoy not having to stress about making it to work by a certain time every day and counting down the minutes until the minute I'm allowed to leave.  I do have responsibilities that sometimes requires me to be at work early, very early, but I don't mind because there are days when I don't have anything going on so I stroll in at 10AM.  I do hate my boss though, which is starting to make my job more difficult.  Why are there still so many 'boys clubs' this day and age?  I am so tired of carrying the weight for male colleagues while they get all the kudos from our male boss.  Such BS!  Oops, this perk post turned into a vent :)
  • Holidays off and my boss. I get all the state holidays, and that means that most months, I'll get at least one day off. Then my boss, well, he "gets" me, and I "get" him. We really understand the way each other works, and I think we make a good team. Plus, what's not to like about feeling like you're respected and your opinion us valued?
  • Man! Where do you guys work? I'm hating my job right now and wishing my practice was busier so I could leave. Crying If any of you know of a PT position, let me know!

LOL this is me! I am jealous of you guys!

  • I love my job!

    I have great benefits.

I work 8am to 6pm Monday through Thursday, and I work 8am to noon on Friday.

Although I have no flexibility, I have to be there at 8am and and I can't leave before 6pm...but I never have overtime. I never have to come in a minute early or stay a minute late.

That might sound like it sucks, but I love my Friday afternoons!

I also love my boss! She is amazing, and we work so well together. She is awesome.

  • Somewhat flexible hours
    Free medical insurance (for me)
Retirement annuity (as apposed to a 401K, though we do have the option of doing both)
I'm appreciated and one of the better workers in my division and it will pay off for me in the long run
    Job security
Only work 40 hours a week and don't have to take work home
As long as I have leave built up, I can use it when I want

  • Free car and car insurance!
  • I love my job!! Lots of perks, but my favorite is all the skittles and m&ms I can eat :-p Also very flexible hours, the best co-workers a girl could ask for, and who wouldn't want to play in the pool with cute kiddos all day?!!
