Traverse or Edge

Dh and I are looking at getting my "mom car". Anyone drive a Traverse or an Edge? I'm leaning towards the Traverse since it has the 3rd row seating but the Edge definitely feels like I'm driving a car and not a cross over.

What are you thoughts if you drive one?

Re: Traverse or Edge

  • I am not a mom, nor do I drive a mom car. I just thought I would say that in the long run you will probably appreciate the third row in the long run. If you car pool or anything you will need more seats.
  • My friend drives a Traverse and loves it.  I think if we hadn't bought a minivan last year I would have definitely considered this 'mom car'.  I also have a couple of friends who drive the GMC Acadia and that is almost exactly the same thing as the Traverse - so again, very spacious and kid-friendly without being a mini-van.

  • I'd go for the traverse over the edge, more space and a bit more power when you'll need it (on the interstate, etc.).
  • I can't comment on the Traverse because I don't know anyone who has one, but my sister has the Edge and I really love it! It's very roomy and drives really nice.

That being said though I went from a Toyota Highlander with a 3rd row to a Toyota Venza that doesn't have the 3rd row and I miss the 3rd row from the Highlander! I don't even have kids yet and I miss the 3rd row! The only downside to the 3rd row is that when you are using it you pretty much lose any trunk space so a stroller etc is out of the question, but like I said...I miss it! I will be going BACK to a Toyota Highlander in January when my lease is up on the Venza due to the 3rd row only.

WOW... how many times can I say 3rd row?!?!  haha

  • My stepmom drives and Traverse and they seem to love it.  I agree with PP that the third row will come in handy.  And even if it does take up some trunk space, most strollers are pretty flat when folded. and will fit in the back.
  • I'm not a mom but I have an Edge, though I don't consider it a "mom car." I love my Betty (Betty Ford, get it?) She drives great, and it's roomy without feeling like a bus. It's also great for hauling stuff and it looks good. I get compliments all the time. The Edge has a good safety rating. You should compare it to the Traverse.

  • I drive an Edge and LOVE IT! I would recommend this car to anyone. I was looking at a bunch of luxury brand SUV/Crossover's like the Lexus and the Acura and I have to tell you the Edge beat them handsdown. It drives and rides like a car, which I love and it has plenty of storage space. Also the back seat is really roomy. I too get compliments on my car all the time. Go Edge!
